Prior to deployment to Iraq, analysis showed other rotary aircraft fell below operational and availability requirements due to the desert environment, supply chain issues, and high OPTEMPO. Therefore, the PSM emphasized the Supply Support Element and updated the Supply Chain Management Plan stockpiling of repair parts, tools and support equipment to account for such issues. How would this affect other IPS elements?
The PSM would need to add acquisition of additional supply management software to the Computer Resources plan, PSH&T plan would need updating to address increased shipping rates,
and the Training and Training Support requirements would include repair drills to reduce repair times.
Impact to other IPS Elements would be limited as the strategies and plans already in place should accommodate projected changes in any of the product support areas.
The PSM would need to acquire additional Facilities and Infrastructure to store an manage extra components, assess need for manufacture of more Support Equipment, Increase Manpower and
Personnel estimate to manage stockpile, and ensure PSH&T plan addresses a longer shelf-life of stockpiled components.
The only element that would be affected would be Facilities and Infrastructure as the extra parts would need to be warehoused until shipment or use.
