1.
Navigate to the following SNHU resources and summarize specifically how each will or may assist you in achieving your personal mission statement and short-term goals.
a.
Instructor feedback within the Grade Center
When navigating to the Grade Center I can see exactly how much information I have been retaining during the duration of this course. It is not only a huge confidence booster to see my grades reflecting my efforts, but also solidifies my desire to continue learning. The extended rubric that comes along with the graded assignments is also a great way to learn from previous mistakes to better my understanding of the lesson or topic. I also appreciate understanding the thoughts behind corrections so I can later use those methods in another context, as well as the kind words of encouragement. b.
24/7 Drop-In Tutoring As of yet I have not had to step into the drop-in tutoring section due to the clear and informative lessons laid out for us students so far. However, I know there will be times where my weaknesses will require more than what might be available in the lessons alone. A more personalized session might be needed in order to ask the direct questions I am struggling with. I mentioned in my personal mission statement that when I get discouraged, I quickly lose sight of the larger picture. With 24/7 tutoring available instead of struggling in solitude I can reach out and get the help I need; before reaching a point of too much discouragement. This will help me continue to maintain my short-term goals of turning in all assignments. c.
Shapiro Library
In the age of technology that we are living in today, a simple Google search, spelled fifty percent incorrectly, and missing most words will find you an answer to your question. However, I don’t say “the” but “an” due to the incredible amount of misinformation on the web. Instead of spending time trying to determine if this source is at all reputable or even appropriate for a scholarly essay, I can turn towards the Shapiro Library. I have never been one who likes to take extra time on tasks. I enjoy the most efficient way possible, checking my work, and moving forward. The Shapiro library is a great resource to find all sorts of sources I can use and cite throughout my SNHU career. Although the library is extensive, if I have to outsource, I can still use the library to properly cite that source using the “Citing Your Sources” tab. d.
SNHU Career
I always find myself overwhelmed by the idea of starting what would be my “career.” The fear of
falling into a job that I am not fulfilled with, or one that I cannot support myself with has loomed
over me ever since high school. The SNHU Career center online provides me with the peace of mind that when I am ready to look for jobs relating to my degree I not only have somewhere to turn, but somewhere that’s associated with my college. e.
One additional SNHU resource of your choosing- Student Involvement
Although I am not yet on campus, I have definitely kept an eye open for clubs, or Student Involvement, when I am. After this year I hope to switch into a Physics major where I would be full-time on campus and able to join clubs and bounce ideas off other students. I always feel that
within a club run by students, we have more freedom to try out new ideas as there really is no “set curriculum.” It not only helps us to learn from one another but to appreciate learning in its entirety. 2.
Include an example of a social support and summarize how it will also assist you in achieving your personal mission statement and short-term goals.
My number one social support is my family for the sole reason that they have always been behind me on anything I do as long as I am happy and do my best. Going to and finishing college is something that my mother has always wanted for me, so I am not only happy to be back for myself but my family as well. It is a great motivator and one that will continue to push me my entire life. It will help me stay on track with my personal mission statement by allowing me full freedom to learn for myself.
