Good Afternoon Class, 1. Why was the United States unable to avoid entering a Cold War with the Soviet Union? The cold war was a conflict of world dominance; because America refused to allow communism to spread, conflict between the US and the USSR was inevitable. The competition between the two parties was the reason for the escalation of the Cold War; neither the US nor the USSR was willing to give up or compromise, so long as they remained a threat to one another, the conflict could not stop.
