The wounded knee occupation
Graded portion:
Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
A primary source is from someone who was there during the event. For example a historical
document, news paper article, government articles, pictures, etc. a secondary source is
articles ,paintings, etc that was created by someone who was not there during the event.
Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research.
Include specific details and examples.
It is important to review and compare several sources because there are many different views on
the same topic. One person my have a set bias against the issue, while another is biased for the
topic. Each person’s predispositions to a topic can and will affect their research if they are not
objective about their research. However its almost impossible to be completely clinical about
subjects that we are passionate about. Most research papers are based on actual events that
everyone is biased to, on one level or another.

Choose a current event related to the subject of your historical research question and explain how they
are connected.
The Dakota access pipeline protests is connected to the event I chose because they both have to
do with bringing attention to the cries of the Native people. Natives were protesting the
pipelines that were being built across their lands without their permission. This was just another
act by American people to take lands that don’t belong to them.
This will help show the I
justices that are still being caused against the Natives.
