I.
Describe the historical event that you selected. Why is this
event significant?
The trail of tears was an event that forced Native Americans out of their home lands and
into new territory west. Oklahoma would be their new home but not everyone would get
there, thousands of Native Americans lost their live due to the harsh conditions of the trail. This event is significant because it shows that White would do anything for expansion of territory for crops, gold and more. Even breaking their treaties with some of the Native Americans just to obtain the territory.
II.
Describe at least two secondary sources that you could use to research your historical event. Your sources must be relevant to your event and must be of an appropriate academic nature. In your description, consider questions such as: What are the similarities and differences in the content of your sources? What makes them appropriate and relevant for investigating your event? What was your thought process when you were searching for sources? How did you make choices?

This article is told by the perspective of one of the descendants of the Indian removal act and other quotes from important people during that time. It gives great explanation of the overview of the trail of tears and why the whites wanted the land.

This article talks about the controversy between the whites and the Indians. It was mostly the whites not caring about the proclamation and wanting to expand territory because their cities were growing rapidly.
Both sources talk about why the whites wanted the Indians out of the land there land but
the trail of tears and blessings gives more depth about it and the overall story.

This is a report on orders to remove the Indians from Georgia. They were to be treated respectfully because they were the most civilized out of all the Indians but there were measures of force if conflict would happen.

The Trail of Tears was a direct result of the Indian Removal Act. Forced removal of hundreds of thousands of Natives from their homeland into distant unfamiliar territories. Many lost their lives

due to the conditions of the trail and fighting to stay in the lands of their ancestors. This event was horrible and showed the greed of whites, their broken promises and unlawful conditions they
