We can learn about Huron culture through the directives that French Jesuit missionary Jean de Brebeuf provided to his fellow Jesuits. To begin with, he stressed that in order to properly interact with and convert the Huron people, it is crucial to comprehend and respect Huron customs, traditions, and language. Second, Brebeuf emphasized the importance of familial and community ties in Huron civilization and pushed his fellow missionaries to form bonds and earn the trust of the Huron people. In order to aid in conversion, he also recognized the Huron people's spiritual rituals and beliefs and the necessity of placing Christian teachings inside their cultural context.
