A historical perspective that could be applied to my historical event is misinformation. The information that was shared before the Massacre took place bred an environment of anger, confusion, and hate. Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources.
In what way did the media shape the way people felt and understood the Tulsa Massacre and how did this affect the understanding of racial violence in America during that time.
I don’t feel that my question needs any revision because I believe I have a strong question that can be elaborated on by the historical information and my own research. My question opens different avenues for me to explore different aspects of The Tulsa Massacre, from the media’s role in the start of the Massacre to how they covered it once it had started and finished.
Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research question.
I am finding that the deeper I dig into my topic the more sources and context I am finding that line up with my research question. Making the connections between The Tulsa Massacre, Dick Rowland, and the reaction to the news converge helped me understand the historical perspective at that time and how it molded the news coverage. 1
