1. ed military serving in both the Marines and the Army. I have traveled all over the world and have been stationed all over the US. I have a BS in Human Resources from Upper Iowa University and am a Licensed Massage Therapist. I am currently studying digital photography at SNHU. I am a mother of two children and grandmother of nine. I have a dog (Ginger) who is a boxer, and she is a clown and fun. I also have two cats that I rescued (Taz and Honeybee). 2. The image or creative work I have chosen is this picture of the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier." It is a highly respected and honored place. It is located within Arlington Cemetary. There is a type of cathedral there which looks to be made of white marble in front of this tomb. This Tomb holds the remains of unknown soldiers from every war since WWI. This monument means a lot to me being that I was in the military and served during war. I was also responsible for closing out KIA's records of over 30 members of the Georgia Guard while deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I have to say that during the ceremony of the changing of the Guard one can hear a pin drop as it is a very emotional ceremony. There are several means of transmission for the piece of art I chose to share. I have experienced this place directly and indirectly. I have visited the tomb on many occasions during Veterans' Day. I have also used this artifact in many of my class discussions in the past. The means of transmission is usually in photographs and videos of the changing of the Guard. It may also be in history books and references to Arlington Cemetary. 4. The first layer of meaning could be respect for those who lost their lives for the service to their country. All those who lost their lives served in other countries, helping to free them from tyrants. This is a place of respect and reverence. Culturally it is acceptable to serve in the military in the US and other countries. In some countries, it is mandatory for all to serve.
