Evaluating a student for special education must include a comprehensive evaluation
utilizing
various assessments. This evaluation is individualized; includes an examination of functional,
developmental, and academic information; and is best conducted by a multidisciplinary team
(MDT).
Develop an original response guided by these questions:
What process does your school use to identify students who may have a learning disability?
Who is involved in the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and what are their roles on the team?
(Use titles instead of identifying names of individuals.)
How is special education eligibility determined at your school? Is Response to Intervention
(RTI) or multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) part of this determination? If not, how
could these approaches be integrated into your current system
