Module 6 Assignment 2: Interprofessional Skills Reflection For this reflection each student will evaluate their experiences working within their interdisciplinary team. You reflect on your interprofessional skill development by considering the successes and challenges your team faced and how working in an interdisciplinary team can help disseminate accurate and appropriate information and provide logical and useful recommendations to the community during a public health event. Additionally, you provide an assessment of the performance of your team and a self-reflection. By Day 2 of Week 10: Address the following items using the provided space on the document to respond to each question. Submit this document with your added responses to the Module 6 Assignment Part 2: Reflection drop box. Interprofessional Skill Development 1) Describe at least one commonality that you found that was shared among all your interdisciplinary teammates. One common thing we shared as a group was wanting to complete the assignment to receive the best grade possible . 2) Describe at least one barrier or challenge you encountered from working as an interdisciplinary team. Communication seemed to be complex . 3) Explain how being an interdisciplinary team helped your team to disseminate accurate information and make appropriate responses and recommendations to the simulated community in the town hall meeting. Being an interdisciplinary team helped us promote awareness of individual needs within the team and encouraged better communication near the assignment's due date, which allowed members to have the information they needed to apply another aspect of the treatment plan. 4) Reflect on your personal contributions to your interdisciplinary team: a) If you are a public health student , first explain what your nursing teammates brought to the project that you did not and then describe what you believe your public health knowledge and skills contributed to the team effort. Those on the team who would have represented nurses brought knowledge and experience to the team. The nurses contribute to the team effort by providing direct patient care, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and advocating for patients. The public health student contributes timeliness, accuracy, appropriate health information, and the will to help with other teammates' responsibilities. Or b) If you are a nursing student , first explain what your public health teammates brought to the project that you did not and then describe what you believe your nursing knowledge and skills contributed to the team effort. Public health nurses bring unique knowledge, competencies, and skills. They are population-focused,
and their roles extend beyond sick care to encompass advocacy, community organizing, health education, and political and social reform. Team Member Assessment 1. Communication: Did each team member communicate appropriately and respectfully at all times, including notifying the team if there were issues meeting deadlines? If no, please describe. Communication was complex. Some members did not reply for days. I thought that was unacceptable, thinking a reply in 24 hours would have been done. It was later learned that the teammate had family in on their wedding anniversary. 2. Timeliness: Did each team member contribute their assigned/agreed-upon tasks in timely fashion? If no, please describe. For the most everyone contributed on time, but our facilitator seemed to struggle. She did not do much of her assigned task, which is believed to be due to confusion. However, separate phone conversations about the assignment and understanding what to do seemed to be comprehended; until it came time to present the work. Some discussions took place one-on-one, and the project would be discussed with the call ending with understanding . 3. Effort: Did each team member complete ideas and their assigned/agreed-upon tasks with sufficient effort, depth, and scholarship which did not require substantial effort from someone else to revise to achieve a high-quality product? If no, please describe. Yes, each member completed their assigned task, but our facilitator had help from everyone for the project to pull through successfully and correctly. Self-Reflection 1. Communication: I communicated appropriately and respectfully with the team at all times, including notifying the team if there were issues meeting deadlines. If no, please describe. I communicated with the team at all times. If a conversation was missed, I replied the next day. Meeting deadlines was no issue for my part of the assignment. 2. Timeliness: I contributed my assigned/agreed-upon tasks in timely fashion. If no, please describe. My assigned task was the first done. I offered my time more than once to help anyone with their responsibilities . 3. Effort: I completed my ideas and assigned/agreed-upon tasks with sufficient effort, depth, and scholarship which did not require substantial effort from someone else to revise to achieve a high-quality product. If no, please describe. My part of the assignment was completed sufficiently, and no one had to add or revise my work.
Additional comments (optional)? I wish we could have split the work better than we did. I felt that we all should have had a part in doing the in-depth research and some easy parts. Once the ladies and I went to choose our topics, everything that required research was taken. In the end, the individual possibly thought about what they had done and noticed they put more pressure on themselves than necessary. Overall, in the end, we did complete the assignment sufficiently, whether we had to assist the facilitator or not.
