list 3 risk factors for metabolic syndrome. What are the criteria for diagnosing metabolic
syndrome? Briefly, discuss 3 ways to decrease the risk of developing metabolic syndrome. (8pts)
Three risk factors of metabolic syndrome are high blood sugar, low levels of good HDL’s, and high levels of triglycerides in the blood. Hyper glycemia or high blood sugar is when there is too much sugar in the blood because the body lacks enough insulin to be processed into the muscles for energy. Having low hdl’s may indicate a serious illness especially in the cardiovascular system. In your opinion, does a ban on the sale of large sugary drinks make sense for public health practice? Why or why not? (2pts) Limiting the amount of sugar in drink will allow people to have a better
chance of having a healthier lifestyle, there are now sugar free drinks and drink makers that will turn water into a decent beverage that may taste similar to sugary beverages like soda.
