Program Evaluation Overview
What is being proposed?
The following proposition is an evaluation that will be used to measure the effectiveness of the basketball program throughout the
school
Why is it being proposed?
This evaluation is being proposed in order to further the program in creating skilled players for the next level and to create a
winning program
What will be benefited by completion of this evaluation?
With completion of this program the players will be able to learn new skills and techniques that will benefit them during the
season
Who will be the critical participants?
The critical participants of this evaluation will be the coaches, parents and players.
What will be the critical aspects?
The critical aspects of the evaluation are creating a positive team environment, building on skills learned from year to year,
learning how to be a team first player, and learning skills and basketball knowledge to build the IQ
Program Description
The High School basketball program is intended to teach players at the highschool level between the ages of 14-18 the skills and
characteristics needed to succeed individually and as a team. The program intends to give these kids the experience of playing
competitive basketball in the off season and a chance to develop skills needed to maybe play at the next level and in life in
general.. The focus of the program is going to be on five main categories: Offensive skills, defensive skills, advanced basketball
knowledge,.learn to play as a team, and necessary conditioning.

Rationale:
Offensive Skills: The goal here is to develop the offensive skills necessary to compete at the high school and possibly
at the next level. Each player is going to need to develop correct form for shooting, passing, and dribbling to achieve
that success. To do this they will need to shoot, pass, and dribble with both hands without turning the ball over 85% of
the time
Defensive Skills: The goal here is to develop the defensive skills necessary to compete at the high school and
possibly at the next level. Each player is going to need to develop correct form for closeouts, help defense , and
defensive rotations to achieve that success. To do this each player will need to demonstrate the correct way to
closeout, the correct rotation spots, and the correct help defense 90% of the time
Advanced Basketball Knowledge: The goal here is to increase the players' knowledge to the level of that the coaches
at the next level want . This includes teaching players new strategies, new offensive and defensive skills, and
situations. To do this, coaches run the game film of players at the college level or above and point out what they
would like to see happen and then have the players demonstrated them in practice to the point that it becomes
second nature

conditioning: The goal here is to have every player conditioned to the standard that coaches insist on during the
season. To do this each of the players will be giving a handbook of different conditioning drills and time limits that will
be tested before and after the program has started to see if the players will be able to break the time that the set
when it first started
Learn to play as a team: The goal here is to have every player become less of a me only type player and more of a
team guy. To do this the coaches will insist on having everyone on the bench chear when something good happens
and by not having more than one incident during practice where two players get into an exchange thats not beneficial
for the team
PART 2: EVALUATION QUESTIONS BASED ON THE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
1. What offensive skills need to be perfected?
2. What defensive skills need to be perfected?
3. What new skills and in game situations are being introduced?
4. How can being a team player be beneficial?
5. Why is being well conditioned so important?
Rationale:
●
This question allows each player to be able to know what they need to work on
●
This question allows each player to be able to know what they need to work on
●
This question is put in place to determine if the player took in what new skills and situations were taught.
●
This question is put in place because it allows each player to understand why being a team player is
important
●
This question allows each player to understand the necessity of being well conditioned

Rationale:
●
The spreadsheet will be used to track how many times the player does the skill correctly. The information will
be collected by the coaches during every practice and game and presented to each player in a personalized
form. The limitation to this will be how tough it is to track every player

Evaluation Proposal Plan
Administrator
High school basketball program
Dear Administrator,
My name is Brandon Disher and I have been working on an evaluation plan for an off season basketball program. I
would like to thank you for considering my evaluation plan for the 14-18 year olds that this basketball program will
most benefit. The plan that I am proposing consists of an in depth evaluation that tracks offensive and defensive
skills, advanced basketball knowledge, how to be a team player, and a conditioning program that gets the kids ready
for the upcoming season.
What makes this a high quality plan is that it is what kids at the next level do so it will be getting your kids a look at
what they would be doing. There is an explanation for everything on the plan so that it is easier to understand. I
believe that the school would benefit from implementing this plan because it would allow this program to grow and
allow the kids to have the best chance at playing at the next level.
If you are interested in implementing this plan into this school's basketball program, please contact me by phone or
by E-mail. My cell phone number is 123-456-7890 and my E-mail is
dishe2bd@cmich.edu
.
