Interview Summary
This report presents the findings of an interview conducted with Dr. Kamson, a Hospice Director. During the interview, Dr. Kamson discussed past and current issues within the organization, primarily focusing on patient safety. From the interview, the identified problem that could benefit from an evidence-based interdisciplinary approach is communication. The company offers patients, families, and other referral services high-quality care. The director's role is to ensure that all the nurses are well supported and educated on care delivery. She ensures that all staff members operate under Medicare guidelines and company policies. I asked the director about various issues she has encountered in the organization. This report will discuss potential change theories and leadership strategies to address this issue, followed by collaboration approaches from the literature to facilitate the establishment of an effective interdisciplinary team.
Issue Identification
First, Dr. Kamson spoke about nurses feeling overworked and overwhelmed because the community liaison team was not cooperative. The team can schedule nurse visits without making
appointments or confirming a nurse's availability. Also, the nurses complained about physicians' delays in approving their patient assessment requests. This situation forces nurses to work for more hours than expected in a week. I asked the director how she managed to handle the situation. She told me about the significance of involving the staff in discussions to find solutions. Therefore, the healthcare teams met monthly to discuss the problems and identify appropriate solutions. They decided to work together for better results. The director highlighted collaboration and communication issues between nurses, community liaisons, and physicians. Timing is an excellent challenge for the groups.

First, the community liaisons needed to communicate with nurses to identify their availability before scheduling patient visits. Community liaisons mainly focused on their goal of referring and admitting an estimated number of patients in the hospital every month. Moreover, the nurses would require physicians' approval while committed to other matters. Therefore, the nurses waited longer due to the wrong timing, which stems from the community liaisons. According to Garcia et al. (2019), teamwork, mutual learning, professional suitability, management support, and open communication can help teams collaborate to find joint solutions.
An interdisciplinary approach is required to solve the issues at the Hospice. Change Theories That Could Lead to an Interdisciplinary Solution
Healthcare leaders can draw upon various change theories and leadership strategies to implement interdisciplinary solutions effectively. Change theories describe an organization's effectiveness in modifying structures, processes, and strategies. One prominent change theory is Kurt Lewin's Three-Step Model, which involves three stages: unfreezing the current state, implementing the change, and refreezing the new state (Hussein et al., 2018). The model is considered adequate for organizational change and team collaboration. The theory emphasizes the involvement of employees in decisions that influence employees' well-being and the organization's performance. Therefore, the director followed the appropriate approach to incorporate employees in decision-making to identify solutions for their problems. The article was published in 2018 within five years and by renowned others. It is a peer-reviewed article. Leadership Strategies That Could Lead to an Interdisciplinary Solution
As a leader, Hospice's director sought to support the nurses in solving their challenges to eradicate the issue of overworking. She established an excellent relationship with the staff, which
helped them discuss their problems with her. The director was approachable and readily built

trust with the team members. Influential and collaborative leadership creates an environment that
fosters efficient and positive interactions, engagement, and inclusion, contributing to successful outcomes (Shaikh et al., 2023). It helps to build coalitions that drive organization processes to attain success. Indeed, the director exercised effective leadership by building transparent relationships with staff based on trust and authenticity. Effective leadership helps build a team's collaborative spirit, which helps solve predicaments. The cited article is a peer-reviewed journal article published in 2023. Collaboration Approaches for Interdisciplinary Teams
The Hospice's director manages three teams, requiring effective collaboration among the interdisciplinary teams to attain their goals. The director should identify ways to boost the team's
cooperation to ensure appropriate timing without inconveniencing or disappointing the staff and patients. According to Askari et al. (2020), the collaborative coefficient is an approach that motivates employees to engage in teamwork. The workers attain better performance by participating in cooperation than individual work. If implemented well, the framework creates efficient communication between executives and employees and improves their desire for teamwork. The insights gained from the interview with Dr. Kamson show that an evidence-based interdisciplinary approach is necessary to tackle this issue effectively. By employing change theories and leadership strategies, healthcare leaders can successfully implement interdisciplinary solutions. This approach is the best for the team members because it will strengthen communication, creating a favorable space for collaboration. The article is peer-
reviewed and published within the last five years.
