Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics BSHI1001 – Principles of Health Informatics Assignment 3 Assignment Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to enhance student’s learning by introducing them to health informatics professionals working at a clinic in the community. Students will participate in a field trip visiting a healthcare facility or a healthcare simulation lab in the community, where they will be able to identify a Health Informatics job role that they are interested in exploring or like during the visit. During the site visit, students will interact with Health Informatics professionals and explore deeper about the particular healthcare profession, explore the skills and knowledge needed to perform routine tasks set, explore the systems, technologies, simulations, processes, and data that are relevant to the selected job role (based on the interactions during the visit). Moreover, students will explore the benefits and challenges associated with the Health Informatics job roles (i.e. training, intellectual challenge, sense of empowerment, meeting and networking opportunities, leadership, skills gap, stress, fatigue, boredom, etc.). Finally, students will research the required licensure and continuing education requirements (if applicable) for the particular Health Informatics job role. Assignment Guidelines: Following the field trip, each student is asked to prepare a 2-page Executive Summary and a 10-
minutes oral presentation (in class) addressing the following: 1.
Describe the Health Informatics job role selected. Explain the skills and knowledge needed to perform the job role including the routine tasks, the systems, simulations, and technologies used, and the clinical processes. Provide a flow chart
for one clinical process – e.g. from the patient onboarding to discharge), and data that are relevant to the selected job role (based on the interactions during the site visit). Support your answer with two industry or academic sources

Submit the Executive Summary file (.doc or .docx format) and presentation file (ppts or ppt) to the assignment Dropbox in Canvas by the specified due date noted in Canvas. The executive summary text should be New Times Roman or Calibri, 12-point, double space and standard 1” margins. Provide a title page and a
