Your Career Development Plan
I've always known I wanted to work in the medical industry. I've worked in the human services
industry for the last thirteen years. Despite the fact that this is the case, I was nevertheless offered
the chance to work in the hospital sector as a human services worker. I gained knowledge about
the value of preserving our agency's individuals' health information while working in the
healthcare industry. I made the decision to expand my human services career within health
information management because this is where my emphasis lies. I became aware of the steps I
would need to take to accomplish this.
Starting Position:
A particular certification and a certain amount of experience are required by some employers,
according to job research, in order to work as a PCT or health coordinator. There are certain
employers, nevertheless, who will take you on and let you train while working. I plan on moving
up further in my career path.
Second Step:
Professional coding is necessary for job security. According to my study, there is a big need for
programmers. should truly comprehend how it operates before changing careers to become a
health information technician. Despite my efforts to become a HIM Manager, I will continue to
code on the side to maintain my certification and practice.
Third Step: Lead Supervisor:
While working as a developer, my ideal situation would have been to have mastered every aspect
of compliance and risk management. I am particularly interested in creating or improving
programs that will help reduce risks by regulating every imaginable condition. My objective is to
learn as much as I can while working in other HIM sectors.
Master: Manager Risk Management:
My ultimate goal is to become the manager of risk management after 4 to 5 years of experience.
I want to work with the other directors to develop initiatives that will let us investigate how to
keep patient and organization information secure. I think my many years of experience and the
tasks I've completed in the past would work in my favor.
Established Career: Manager of Coding
I'm interested in this career position. I believe it will enable me to carry out my responsibility. In
a healthcare setting like a hospital or medical clinic, a coding manager is in charge of managing
the medical coding procedures.
