Due to the sharp rise in hate crimes, the nation's public policy is seriously affected
by this problem. The incidence of hate crimes has had negative consequences, especially for the targeted populations. This has impacted people's mental and emotional well-being in addition to endangering their lives and safety. Crimes involving prejudice against one another on the basis of a variety of characteristics, such as gender, race, nationality, religion, handicap, or sexual orientation, are commonly classified as hate crimes (Zhang et al., 2021). This kind of crime, which is a severe manifestation of bias, is brought on by political, social, or other public debates.
The usage of body cameras has become one of the most efficient methods of dealing with crimes
as a result of the negative effects of hate crimes. Because they can record situations at the push of a button, body cameras have proven to be a valuable tool in the fight against hate crimes. This program was created as an addition to the various regions of the nation's current CCTV and security systems. By acting as a deterrent and helping law enforcement officials gather evidence to identify the perpetrators, body cams are meant to provide comfort to victims of hate crimes (Kim, 2019). Additionally, this will probably make it easier for law enforcement to apprehend the guilty, bring them before the relevant authorities, and keep them from perpetrating the same crime. The Department of Justice has enforced a number of state and federal laws and regulations to address the problem of hate crimes. The majority of hate crimes covered by these statutes are those motivated by prejudice against someone because of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, color, or handicap. According to Jendryke and McClure (2019), there are federal prohibitions against hate crimes that cover conspiracy against rights, violent interference with rights that are protected by the federal government, and criminal interference with the right to fair housing. However, the majority of states have laws against hate crimes that

are different in each state. The objectives behind these hate crime statutes are data collection, improved penalties, and bias.
