Hello Professor,
According to WalletHub, my state of North Carolina ranks nineteenth overall. This ranking is based on
environmental quality, where we rank thirty-first; eco-friendly behaviors, where we rank twenty-third;
and climate change contributions, where we are ranked twelfth. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper
has signed executive order #80, which includes several measures to become a more eco-friendly state.
Among these things are:
Reduce statewide greenhouse gas emissions to 40% below 2005 levels
Increase the number of registered, zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) to at least 80,000
Reduce energy consumption per square foot in state-owned buildings by at least 40% from the
fiscal year 2002-2003 levels
I recommend that we slow down the development of large buildings and housing developments. Plenty
of uninhabited buildings exist and should be renovated instead of taking away more green land.
