Week 9 discussion Wet maritime (m) Dry continental (c) Cold polar or artic P A Warm tropical T Think of the weather over the past 5 days here in the Metro Atlanta area. Which type of airmass do you believe has been over the region? What is your evidence? Has there been more than one type of airmass that has passed through over the past 5 days? Based on the weather fronts that are on the map today (seen on local news, Weather Channel, etc.), what do you think the weather will be like for your area tomorrow? Be sure to explain your reasoning based on the characteristics of fronts that we have studied this week. I think that the mass over Atlanta for the past few days could be cT air mass, or continental tropical. It wasn’t rainy, though it was cloudy, and I think the air in Atlanta is always at least a little humid. It was cooler in the past 5 days at some times, but it was warmer during the day. I know that it was not artic because it wasn’t super cold, just chilly. Tomorrow, the temperature is bottoming out at 50 degrees, which is pretty chilly, but I wouldn’t call it cold. The high for tomorrow is 74, one degree lower than the high today. It is also supposed to be cloudy, but no rain is predicted. I would say that there is a short cold front on its way to our area for the next couple of days, making our air mass a cP. It seems like it will get warmer pretty quickly, another reason on I believe the cold front is coming, since it is moving fairly quickly.
