Name 3 ways they are different. 1. Between 50 and 70 percent of the carbon dioxide that people add to the atmosphere is currently absorbed by the seas and land plants in carbon "sinks," 2. The ability of microorganisms to produce carbonate shells will decline as ocean acidification increases. 3. The seas' rising temperatures will cause a decrease in CO2 solubility. So, the "discount" we currently receive from these sinks will end in the future. Question 2 : How long do CFCs stay in the atmosphere? Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) may remain in the atmosphere for a decade to a century long. Step 2: Read Climate Change: Where we are in 7 charts and what you can do to help. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-46384067? fbclid=IwAR0WiX85NrtM0hmKpxEZRoW1_Bb4ZhyHyBGsnauAbqCS-8i4GX7F8uVq8vQ\ (If it asks you to register, click the X to close the popup window) Question 1 : Which 3 crops were named in the article as being in danger/will we have difficulty raising? 1. Rice, 2. Maize 3. Wheat Question 2 : Navigate to your region of choice on the map. Where is the largest cluster of record-breaking heat located on June 25, 2019? (I included a screenshot of the heat timeline below for reference on where to obtain the data) Answer: I was not able to see any of the information.
Question 3 : Who is the world’s top 2 CO 2 emitters and how many megatons per year do they emit? #1 China 11,256 #2 United States 5,275 Question 4 : Which continent faces the worst climate risks? Answer: Africa Question 5 : What is the Arctic Sea Ice minimum extent in 2000 and 2019 per million square km? (The image and information flashes quickly, so it may take a few viewings to capture the data.) Year 2000 6.3 million square km Year 2019 4.2 million square km Question 6 : Name 5 ways the IPCC says we can do to help reduce climate change. 1 . Buy less meat, milk, cheese and butter 2. Eat more locally sourced seasonal food - and throw less of it away 3. Drive electric cars but walk or cycle short distances 4. Take trains and buses instead of planes 5. Use videoconferencing instead of business travel
Question 7: Which food has the biggest carbon footprint? Answer: Beef Carbon Calculator Investigation Sheet Navigate to the Analysis tab in the Carbon Calculator . Answer all questions in complete sentences. 1. What is your total CO 2 emissions value in both tons and kilograms? Tons: My annual carbon emissions in tons are 26.53. Kilograms: My annual carbon emissions in kg are 24067.86. 2. What is the total CO 2 emissions value in tons for the average American citizen and the average global citizen? Average American Citizen: 27 tons Average Global (World) Citizen: 5.50 tons 3. How do your CO 2 emissions compare to the CO 2 emissions for the average global (world) citizen? Currently, my emissions are 4.5 times greater than those of the ordinary global (world) citizen. 4. In the table below, record the % of your total emissions for each area. Use the pie graph in the top left corner of the Analysis page. T opic Your CO 2 Emissions Average U.S. Citizen CO 2 Emissions Home 26.73% 40.6% Transportation 43.51% 44.3%

Food 29.76% 15.1% 5. How do your CO 2 emissions in each of the 3 areas compare to the CO 2 emissions for the average U.S. citizen? My CO2 emissions at home are currently 13.87% lower than the average American. While CO2 emissions from transportation are only 0.72% lower. Then there are my food CO2 emissions, which are 14.66% higher than the average American. 6. Review your responses in the carbon calculator. Which calculator selection contributed the most to your total carbon emission? My transportation currently makes up the largest portion of your overall carbon emissions. 7. What is some lifestyle or household choices you can change to reduce your carbon footprint the most? My lifestyle and residence can be changed in a few ways to reduce my carbon footprint. The two biggest changes would be for me to start recycling and carpooling to school. Consume seasonal foods that are locally sourced and less beef as well. 8. How does keeping track of your carbon footprint reduce your impact on the environment? The carbon footprint helps us understand how our actions affect global warming. To be able to effectively fight global warming, we as individuals must quantify and track our carbon footprint.
