Reflect on the terms "urban" and "rural." How are they defined in the literature? (Source required)
The HRSA defines rural as an area with a population less than 50,000 and if the population is greater than 50,000 then it is considered urban (Health Resources and Service Administration, 2022). According to the United States Census Bureau “rural encompasses all population, housing, and territory not included within an urban area and urban densely developed territory, and encompass residential, commercial, and other nonresidential urban land uses”(United States Census Bureau, 2020).
Based on your personal experience, describe "urban" vs. "rural’s When I think of urban, I think of a place with a lot of people, good cell phone service,
lots of stores, hospital close by, and Walmart is a quick 10 min drive. When I think rural, it’s a long drive to the nearest store, poor cell reception, you may have a 911 address that’s not the physical address, and your neighbors are miles down the road.
