Discussion: Cyber-Stan Mystery Module 1 Based on the information given Marla the ex-wife, Steve the brother and Sam his best friend can all be suspects placed at the crime scene of Stan’s death. A motive for Stan’s ex-wife Marla could be financial gain in trying to get as much out of Stan as possible, hiring an aggressive attorney during the divorce can be proof for a motive. Marla taking out a life insurance policy on Stan could have been a way for her to secure additional financial protection. Marla and Stan also had an argument over who would take their daughter on the day of Stan’s death. There may have been ongoing tensions and disputes over custody. Marla’s motive could have been to eliminate Stan to not have to deal with the custody battle. As for Steve his brother a possible motive could be financial trouble. Steve was known for asking Stan for money. Steve may have had financial problems and his motive could have been wanting to inherit Stan’s wealth or assets. Steve was also known to associate with dangerous individuals and Steve’s involvement with cooperate spies knowing that dangerous people were looking for him could suggest they may have been involved in illegal activities. Stan may have discovered Steve’s connections or at risk, Steve may have wanted to kill Stan to protect himself. Steve also described as walking with a limp, in the report given it appeared there were footprints at the scene that were spaced making it look like someone with a limp may have been at the scene time of murder. As for Sam the best friend his motive could be resentment, Sam was known to flirt with Stan’s girlfriend and if Sam felt like Stan was getting in the way would lead Sam as a suspect for murder. Sam also has connections with weapons, drugs through illegal markets where he could have gained possession of a firearm and drugs. Stan’s long standing health problems listed increased his risk of death and may have possibly led to his death. Carpal tunnel in the right hand and having arthritis indicate that it may have been difficult for Stan to pull the trigger.
