(Answer this question in 2–4 sentences.) You are a caseworker for the Department of Children and Families in your area. You are conducting a home visit with a family for the first time. The family was referred to you by the local police for possible child neglect. The goal of the visit is to take basic notes on the condition of the home and interview the family to determine if additional intervention is needed. Informal The setting is informal because it’s taking place in the home of the person being interviewed. The interviewees should feel very willing to share information since there is no immediate threat of being detained. However, they may be nervous because they probably feel they have to say the right things or have their house look a certain way if they’re worried about their child or children being taken away. Note: Be sure to cite any resources you use in support of your answer in the References section. The interviewer is at a disadvantage in regard to controlling the environment since the interview is taking place in a private home. I would try to sit at the dining table directly across from the female and at an angle to the male (if both are present). I would sit across from the female to make her feel more comfortable since I am male, and I would sit at an angle to the male to make the interview less confrontational. (Answer this question in 2–4 sentences.) You are an investigator at your local law enforcement agency. You have scheduled an interview with a 12-year-old female who has filed a report with your agency that she has been sexually abused by her mother’s live-in boyfriend. She will be arriving at your location in the care and custody of her aunt, who has temporary custody of her. Formal The setting of the interview takes place at the local law agency. So, this will allow the interview to be formal. The setting of this interview will allow the young lady to feel comfortable and able to share her side without judgement. She will be allowed to give more information and feel safe due to her being at the police station. Also, her mom and the mom’s boyfriend which is the accused will not be present. The law enforcement agency is a safe place and quite where she will be able to get detail without being distracted or interrupted. It will allow the young lady and I to have a quite setting free from interruptions from her mother and mother’s boyfriend. It will also give me a chance to build a foundation where she is able to be honest and give details about what occurred. Scenario 2

You arrive at a local shopping mall, where a 15- year-old juvenile male has allegedly stolen a video game console. The juvenile suspect is being detained in the mall security office. Informal In the office of the mall security office It makes the young man unwilling to share why he stole the console. He also knows that he is being detained also so that makes it difficult for him to share any information. Also, it is also other people around that are not a part of the investigation. Since we are in a public place, I want to have full control over the interview. It will also make it hard for thew 15-year-old to want to confess due to other people being around and able to hear the details. Scenario 3

The purpose of the interview is to prepare the victim for an upcoming criminal trial. Formal The setting is inside at the local courthouse It will allow the victim to feel safe telling her story due to being listen to about her experience. She will also be able to give more details of what happened. She will also get insight of what going to happen during the trail so she can be more comfortable with the process. It will give the victim a safe place to express how she really is about the trial. It will give you insight that you can share with your attorney about how the victim is feeling.
