Investment Portfolio (Week 2) Stock Name (and Ticker Symbol) Price per Stock Number of Stocks Purchased Total Purchase Price by Stock Microsoft (MSFT) $409.80 14 $5,737.20 Nvidia (NVDA) $739.81 9 $6,658.29 Amazon (AMZN) $171.05 16 $2,736.80 Meta Platforms (META) $474.65 15 $7,119.75 Novo Nordisk (NVO) $123.22 22 $2,710.84 TOTAL $24,962.88 First, let me start by informing everyone that I have almost no experience with investing. About five years ago I downloaded the Robinhood app and bought 1,218 DOGE at $0.002462 per stock. Then, I lost interest and ended up selling it a couple of years later for a profit of around $17. Didn’t get back into the app until I started my research for this assignment. I used this platform exclusively for this assignment. The main reason for the mixing of this stock is because they have been on a positive trend since the last quarter or more. Additionally, a majority of these stocks have a dividend yield. Here is a brief overview of each stock compared to the previous year and what’s being highlighted in the news: MSFT – In the past year, Microsoft is up 50.08% with an increase from $136.54 to $409.80 per stock. Right now, 96% out of 51 analysts suggest buying. “Microsoft continues to benefit from upselling into higher-priced stock-keeping units as customers are willing to pay up for better security and Teams Phone” (Robinhood, 2024). Their stock should continue like this over many years. NVDA – In the past year, NVIDIA is up 242.14% with an increase from $522.22 to $739.81. Similar to Microsoft, out of 53 analyst ratings, 92% suggest buying. According to Robinhood (2024), “the firm has a first-mover advantage in the autonomous driving
market that could lead to widespread adoption of its Drive PX self- driving platform. AMZN – In the past year, Amazon has seen a 73.25% increase from $72.09 to $171.05 per stock. An outstanding 97% out of 59 analysts suggest buying. Amazon Prime memberships help attract and retain customers who spend more with Amazon, which reinforces their powerful network bringing in recurring and high- margin revenue. Experts say, “High-margin advertising is growing faster than the corporate average, which will continue to boost profitability over the next several years” (Robinhood, 2024). META – In the past year, Meta Platforms is up 167.94% from a stock price of $297.52. Currently, 85.5% out of 62 analysts suggest buying with 11.3% holding and 3.2% at sell. They are increasing their AI technology, and the launch of VR products should drive growth in advertising revenue (Robinhood, 2024). NVO – In the past year, Novo Nordisk is up 72.55% with an increase from $51.80 to $123.22 per stock. Right now, 60% of analysts suggest buying. Additionally, “Novo Nordisk’s weight loss drugs show promise for diabetic patients undergoing hip replacement [and] Novo could achieve a strong share in additional markets for liver disease and Alzheimer’s” (Robinhood, 2024). Looking forward to seeing how this portfolio changes and am ready for any feedback. Thank you! Reference: Robinhood. (2024).
