2. Why should nursing students create an electronic portfolio?
3. What resources are available to help CUNY students get started in creating an electronic portfolio?
4. Find an example of an e-portfolio on the
internet.
Post a link.
What type(s) of information are included?
An electronic portfolio is a collection of electronic evidence gathered and managed by the user (A. Koch, 2010). Nowadays, it is understood as a visual collection of achievements and experiences posted on the web, used for professional presentation to a potential employer. In education, particularly portfolio allows the students to create and manage a digital collection of learning evidence that presents competencies and skills in a selected career or area of interest. Therefore, it will enable students to effectively manage their knowledge and shape careers. It is a great tool that gives many advantages, especially at the beginning of a professional career. Using e-
portfolios in education aims to engage students, make them aware of their potential, qualifications, and talents, and plan and organize their learning. Learners have the opportunity to collect, document, and evaluate their learning process, as well as educational and professional achievements to date. Furthermore, an E-portfolio is a place on the web where the student can show his creativity, which is a desirable feature of many professions.
