Post your explanation of how a literature review differs from a traditional research paper for a course. Address the function of a literature review.
A literature review is a kind of research paper that examines a text's perspective or argument. It differs from a traditional research paper in that it reviews existing research on a topic rather than presenting new research. The literature review is different since it’s not actually the sources that matter; instead, it’s
the synthesis that matters (Philbrook 2017). A traditional research article is intended to give an original argument that may be used in future study and/or publishing, whereas a literature review is intended to provide a summary of previous research on the issue under consideration.
A literature review's objective is to give a critical examination of existing research on a topic and to identify gaps in that research. A literature review is carried out by first identifying a research issue, then looking for and analyzing existing research on that question.
Finally, describe potential consequences of deciding on a research question without conducting a thorough review of the literature.
The potential consequences of choosing a research question without first reviewing the literature include knowledge gaps, information duplication, and failure to acknowledge or credit prior researchers. (Yegidis, Weinbach, & Myers. 2018). Another consequence is that you run the risk of undertaking a study
that has already been done and lacking the specificity necessary to support your hypothesis.
