Scare Tactic The writer is trying to scare the audience into not forbidding teachers from giving homework by saying doing so will result in student failure. 1. The only people who believe in a strong military are people with an I.QQ. under 80. Ad Homine m Explanation: The writer attacks the reader´s IQ rather than sticking to the topic of the military. 2. Wow, the teachers at this school are tough! I took a course from Thompson and only got a C, even though I worked really hard. Hasty Generali zation Explanation: The speaker feels that the teachers are tough just because they made a C even though they worked hard. 3. Either support Meech Lake or Quebec will separate. Either/ Or Fallacy Explanation: The reader is only given two options. 4. My doctor must be smart, because she made it through medical school. straw man Explanation: The writer states that the doctor must be smart because she made it through medical school. 5. In 1984, Denver city officials asked residents to leave their cars home one day a week. That is why Denver is the best place to live. Non sequitur Explanation: The writer states that Denver city officials told residents to leave their cars home for a day but then continues about how Denver is the best place to live.

If you reduce your consumption of chocolate your health will get unbelievably better as it will lower weight gain and dental issues in the long run. 2. You are attempting to convince your class that they should not drink and drive. You should not drink and drive as it can cause major problems when it comes to driving as your sense of awareness is lowered and you can potentially cause car wrecks. 3. You are trying to persuade an audience that they should exercise more. Exercising more can help you now and in the future as if you keep your body good and in shape you can ultimately be more energized and feel more active.
