Dear Class,
One of the biggest mistakes students make with plagiarism and citing work properly is not understanding the concept of plagiarism and its consequences. Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's work or ideas without giving them proper credit. Here are some common mistakes students make:
Failure to properly paraphrase or quote: When using information from a source, students often fail to properly paraphrase or quote the original text. It is important to rephrase the information in your own words and give credit to the original author if you are directly quoting them. Students sometimes forget to include citations for the sources they have used. It is important to provide proper citations for all the sources you have consulted, including both in-text citations and a bibliography or reference list. Improper citation format: Even when students include citations, they may not use the correct citation format. Different citation styles, such as APA, MLA, or Chicago, have specific guidelines for formatting citations. It is important to familiarize yourself with the appropriate citation style for your assignment and follow it consistently.
I think I my biggest weakest is source citation format just looking at my old papers I lost points with the formatting portion of APA for in-text citations. Hopefully I have gotten enough practice and have aster the skill.
