Design:
The steps I chose to take for this assignment were not the most simple. As someone who had not used photoshop in just shy of 10 years, and had never once used illustrator, it was like having the knowledge of an infant in the programs. To put it simply, I struggled, a lot. Using images from pexels to create a merged image that became a staple piece for my work, I placed them individually into photoshop to make minor coloration alterations and then transferred to the
illustrator to merge them together. This became the main staple of my work as well as an ombre effect background that became the web banner background. With each composition, I made sure to create a romantic beachy feel which was my end goal. I created eye-catching, simplified fonts in the colors of the resort, and a romanticized feel to the ad to be driven towards a audience of couples, young and old. My magazine ad, which was the printable advert, included all the information for contact as well as the package available with a simple glow illumination the information on a feathered background image. This is was important to gain interest to the public
and to get the word out. My web banner, which was the web advert, included all the information for contact as well as a booking button and website to be able to book online to secure the package. This was important because the printable advert stated that in order to have the package
offered, you needed to book online, and this drew attention to the booking without being too cramped together. This is why all digital adverts contain a link through to more information.
Adaptation:
Some adaptation tools I attempted to use was the K.I.S.S. (keeping it super simple) method, but as with everything in my life, I am obsessed with detail and I never keep things simple no matter how hard I rtry. Using bits of feedback I received, I made regular changes to
my work throughout the term. I attempted to be simple but eye-catching on my work and once I felt the design was appropriate in week 6, I kept the work as it was. I felt that there was a decent imagery, tone, call to action, message, and audience for the theme of the project. .. In order to better convey the intended message, I tried to keep things simple while still being visually appealing enough to draw in potential customers. Even though I barely know how to use the tools in Photoshop and Illustrator, trying to appeal was one of the hardest changes I made. Still, I made an effort. Copyright and Ethics:
The most potential copyright issue I could imagine with this work would be the possibility of using a persons face without knowing that they would be uneasy about it. Typically, it is the best thing to communicate with the person in the image ahead of time to confirm as to whether they are comfortable with you using their picture in a ad or any other way for the intention of drawing attention. Royalties-free content includes images, illustrations, and media (such as audio and video) that are sold for a set price and can be used again by the buyer. I
would have to give each copyrighted asset's author the proper accreditation.
