Personal Theory Paper 2 Introduction “Learning involves acquiring and modifying knowledge, skills, strategies, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors” (Slavin et al, 2018, p. 2). As educators, it is important that we not only be attentive with students with learning disabilities but flexible with whatever academic needs they may have. This is vital to educators everywhere because every student learns differently. Regardless of their race, beliefs, or socio-economic background. Education is not only a need but a necessity that all students should have available to them despite their learning disabilities. Today children have so many challenges that they are dealing with within and outside the classroom. So having differences can be an issue especially when it is out of the norm. A student's differences cannot impact their confidence, but it can also deal with a student's learning styles as well. Diversity is no longer the only challenge amongst students in the classroom today but now it is the students' learning styles. Regardless of how well a student learns they still have an educational need. That is why differential instruction and different teaching methods, and strategies are needed in the classroom today. Other students' needs might not be the same as another students. Some students are visual learners instead of auditory learners. Whatever learner or disability you may have it is still essential for a student to succeed in the classroom. The importance of having a stellar curriculum and lesson plan in the classroom is crucial to a child’s cognitive and developmental skills. As Christian educators it is with the help of God that we not only embrace but love each students' differences. That is why we are so unique because we are
Personal Theory Paper 3 made in the image of God. A teacher calling is to create a healthy environment for all God’s people to learn, grow, and succeed. There are several teaching methods and strategies to help both students and teachers excel in the classroom. The teaching methods are not only to help you but to help build the relationship around the principles of cooperative learning. All the skills that teachers need to be effective in the classroom. Students learn from their environment that is around them. That is why it is so important that they have excellent role models around them to direct them on the correct path. Leadership should be a priority when teaching and being a role model to students from diverse backgrounds. Communication, interaction, and collaborating assignments is detrimental in whether a student from a diverse background achieves success in the classroom. Children learn through interaction with each other. “Vygotsky viewed cognitive development as an outgrowth of social development through interaction with others and the environment” (Slavin et al, 2021, p. 53). Children in general are influenced by their environment and the people around them. Both teachers and peers play a key role in a developing child’s life. Students see teachers as their role models and respected figures in their school and the community. Qualities of An Effective Role Model What is considered an effective role model? Having a good role model in a student's life is key to their success. Teachers are the key to help build students' confidence to do better in their lives and school. A role model is someone that a person can depend on but also look up to help keep them on a straight path. Teachers are the source to help their students and give them an ear to whatever problems they face in their life. An effective role model will not only be there for their students, but they will have all the qualities. An effective role model should embody these things and more. Having willpower, confidence, diligence and being respectful are all the essential

Personal Theory Paper 4 qualities what embodies not only an effective role model but a teacher as well. Often a teacher is the only person that a student meets that they can trust and depend on. Teachers in general say so many different things to students they wear many hats. For example, most teachers are a student's confidant, friend, listener, helper, leader, etc. That is why it is so important that teachers be an excellent role model but also leader in the classroom. The Teachers as an effective Role Mode l Sometimes teachers are the only positive role model in a child’s life. Students face so many challenges not only at home but at school as well. So, it is heartwarming to have someone who will not only listen but often not judgmental. Many children miss that authority or disciplinary figure in their life, so they turn to the most trusting person, a teacher. Despite the many challenges that a teacher may face in the classroom. Students learn from their teacher's example of how they endure many things like life itself. By watching how the teacher overcome their problems in the classrooms, it will give students hope too. That in general they can overcome anything. If they put God first. Building a good relationship with the students and giving them a safe but diverse environment is what embodies an effective role model. Teacher responsibility as an effective Team Member An educator has the responsibility of not only their class but being a good role model and co- worker as well. Teachers have so many obligations and responsibilities ahead of them that it can be too demanding at times. That is why it is so important that a teacher not only has respect from their students but their colleagues too. Having a supportive staff is always refreshing and makes things a lot easier. To make sure that everything works and comes together it is vital for teamwork to be successful. Everyone must work together for a common goal. Teamwork is not
Personal Theory Paper 5 only valuable, but it teaches students to work well with their peers. This is something much needed right now to help students who feel they are not being heard. If the parents, teachers, and staff work together as a team, there will be much less crime in schools today. Teamwork is essential to having a healthy but safe learning environment. The Teacher’s Role in Cultivating Good Parent Teacher Relationships With any relationship it is vital that the people work together to make it work. When parents and teachers work together and show a good relationship it is very vital to a student's success in school. Although having an open line of communication between parent and teacher can be quite challenging at times it is still vital to both student and parent. Teachers are especially important to parents because they can keep them up to date with their child’s academics, behavioral issues, and problems. Sometimes students are more open to communicating with respected adults other than their parents. “ In general, focal children interacted more frequently and for a longer time with their teachers than their peers” ( Chaparro et al, 2019, p. 1) . Teachers will be that intermediate between parent and student to help them come to a common consensus. A teacher should always communicate their expectations and goals to both parents and students. It not only shows consistency on the teacher's part, but it helps build a solid foundation and relationship with teacher, student, and parent. The Teacher’s Approach to Diversity Diversity is becoming more popular in today’s classroom. Classes are now a melting pot of different races, languages, and beliefs. Having a diverse classroom is more of a norm now. Students are not the only diverse population now teachers are now too. There are more teachers that look like their students now than ever before. Differentiation instruction is beneficial to a
Personal Theory Paper 6 diverse group of students. An article about flip classroom he found out that “the students in the experimental group learned with the flipped-classroom learning approach, while the students in the control group learned with the traditional-classroom learning approach” (Lin Y, 2019, p. 187). In the end the flipped classroom approach won. The reason is because teachers must always be willing to change their perspectives for their students. That is what makes a good teacher. Diversity not only opens the door to a lot of students interacting and socializing but it prepares students for what happens outside the box in the real world. If a student has an open mind and is ready to work with diverse people, then they have achieved success. It is essential that students experience other cultures. Diversity is inclusive, it helps students who feel different like they are a part of their class. Diversity not only enriches a student's mind, but it helps them to prepare for other cultures and views. Changing the way, we think about our own cultural beliefs. We need to be more caring of others when it comes to diversity. (Van Brummelen, 2009) . Diversity helps children not only interact but connect better with their peers. It helps teacher/student relationships and closes the gap of stereotypes if diversity is in the classroom. “Classroom diversity moderated matching such that teacher–child mismatch was related to lower engagement, motivation, social skills, math and reading scores in low-diversity classrooms, but not in high-diversity classrooms” (Rasheed et al, 2020, p. 597). Children become more tolerant of others and accept if diversity is present in the classrooms. Diversity breaks down stereotypes and stigmas in the classroom and the real world. Diversity opens the door and exposes other students to different languages. The Teacher’s Approach to Learners with Exceptionalities

Personal Theory Paper 7 “Paying attention is a critical first step toward learning” (Hanley et al, 2017, p. 1265). Teaching children with exceptionalities is no easy task and comes with many challenges. However, they are still students, and they deserve the same education as their peers. Regardless of their learning disability all students deserve a quality education in the classroom. Students with exceptionalities should not be treated differently, they have the same abilities as their peers. They just need extra guidance. Creating a lesson plan for all students in the classroom with Differentiation instruction integrated in the lesson plan is more beneficial then excluding a student in the class with exceptionalities. When a student feel included that makes their self-esteem and confidence level grow into something positive. A child with exceptionalities should never feel excluded from their class or peers. “Findings suggest that teacher–child relationships should be explored as a mechanism for improving the learning-related behaviours of children with DLDs” (Rhoad et al, 2018, p. 324). Accommodating the needs of students with exceptionalities should be a top priority for any teacher. The Teacher Journey as a Lifelong Learner Being a teacher is simply dedication and love for the students who look for your direction daily. Teachers are constantly learning daily. Although it comes with many challenges it is still the most rewarding job. Teachers must always be ready to change with the different methods and strategies that they must learn to keep their students on track. With an increase in technology, in classrooms mobile devices are used now more than ever. “Teachers must have supportive professional development fostering enthusiasm and willingness as well as skill in techniques for integrating mobile devices successfully in the classroom” (Christensen et al, 2017, p. 112). However, these new strategies and methods allow a teacher to be better with their craft. When teachers are exceptional leaders and role models in their class so will their students be as well.
Personal Theory Paper 8 Learning never ends for a teacher. It is just the beginning of a continuous but satisfying journey that all educators must and will take. Conclusion As an educator it is essential that all God’s people get the same education despite their learning disabilities. A person’s diverse background should not be a reason a person is not given a quality education. We are now living in a world where diversity is now the new normal. The classrooms are filled with students of different languages, races, and cultures. So, it is essential that all educators and teachers be trained. As educators we are to uphold our beliefs that all students require a good education despite their differences. If all teachers follow this rule, then there will be a lot less issues within the class. Being a responsible role model to God’s children is especially important to a student's success in the real world. With the help of new teaching methods and strategies it will put the students on the correct path to learning. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me” (King James Bible, 1769/2017, Philippians 4:13).
