Write a paragraph explaining your understanding of how each of these elements affects the others in sentence structure and how each is affected by the others in sentence structure. In other words, explain how each relates to the other three:
Transitive verbs
Intransitive verbs
Active voice
Passive voice
To my understanding, the relationship between these four elements is determined through the capabilities in their transformations. Transitive verbs are known to have the flexibility to change from the active voice into the passive voice, whereas intransitive verbs solely exist in active voices. The passive voice allows transitive verbs to transfer their actions onto indirect and direct objects, and active voice allows intransitive verbs to
act alone without the need for an indirect or direct object. Within the sentence structure,
depending on whether the verbs are in a passive or active voice, the subjects and objects switch places. Transforming a passive transitive sentence into an active transitive sentence; the subject is placed behind the word “by,” and the object moves into the subject slot; vice versa for the active voice transformation. These characteristics
show the relationship between the verbs holds with the voices.
