Session 1 Assignment
When using references in your academic studies you need to acknowledge the references you used for several different reasons. The following 4 are important in my opinion: Respect, Support, Accuracy, and variety of articles.
When you acknowledge someone else's work by a reference you are s showing respect to their intellectual work and ideas It also shows that it is their work and not that of your own,
The second reason is to show support for your ideas/thoughts in your writing. You may use several references in writing to support your position on a particular topic. It also helps to create a stronger argument on your point of view in your writing. The third reason is accuracy. If you reference specific items in your paper it will give a more accurate viewpoint for your readers. It will allow the reader if needed to trace the information you cited.
The final reason for references it allow you as a writer to explore a variety of articles. You may cite a larger base of information to support your views, It allows you to save time as the
writers of your references have spent the time researching the topic.
An example of a correct APA reference is the following: McGrath, Alister E. (1953) Evangelicalism & the future of Christianity, InterVarisity Press, https://ccu.marmot.org/Search/Results?lookfor=+Evangelicalism+
%26+the+future+of+Christianity&basicType=Keyword&Submit=Search
"As a result of these experiences I had to ask myself where my faith was supposed to anchored in the church's struggle in the world and whether on God's map, one place is more important than another" (Schonherr, 1983 p.308)
