Nevertheless, this book can also be used by teachers in the elementary and middle schools to guide their own learning, adjust to their own purposes, and empower them to answer their own Earth system science questions based on valid scientific data. Educators will be able to use the step-by-step process to get information and use analysis tools to explore real issues and questions in Earth system science. As teachers complete a chapter, they will create and evaluate maps, graphs, images, or other data products. The fundamental goal of each activity is to develop educators’ skills and confidence so they can use data to conduct their own investigations of the Earth System.
