Example Of Personal Narrative Essay Sample "Would you rather surf in Punta Cana or hike the Appalachian Trail?", the anesthesiologist asked. To humor him, I replied "Hmm, I would probab–". Following an 8 hour anesthesia–induced slumber, I awoke to blinding lights and inaudible conversation from surgeons. Akin to the seasonal migration of birds, high school students use their Spring Break to tour prospective colleges. Due to an appointment with Johns Hopkins Department of Plastic Surgery, I was unable to join the flock. Meticulous surgeons were tasked with removing soft tissue from my right thigh, and placing it into my left cheek to add symmetry. I was born with Goldenhar syndrome, a congenital defect that is characterized by asymmetry of the face. The surgery that occurred during Spring Break of my junior year was not the first of it's kind, but one of the last. Furthermore, Goldenhar was a rather sneaky diagnosis, being that it flew right under the radar of every prenatal ultrasound. ...show more content... Soon, my mirror checks became enjoyable. It occurred to me that I had missed 2 weeks of school and was extremely behind. Every time I sought marginal productivity, I became fatigued and made my way towards a couch. All of a sudden, a fuse went off in my head and I buckled down and got to work. In the span of 2 days, I wrote a 2,000 word essay for AP Seminar, finished a debate project, and performed 56 mirror checks. Before I knew it, Sunday evening had come, which meant 12 hours until my return to school. An elongated gauze pad was still required to cover the wound under my chin. I was self conscious for the first time of my life. That night I went to bed praying that the swelling would be gone by sunrise. When Monday morning came, I instinctively checked a nearby mirror and noticed a slight improvement, but "bloated" was still the accurate adjective. Insisting to drive, my mother and I made our way to South River High School Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about? ...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Example Of Personal Narrative I was only three years old when my parents decided to move. I have a younger brother who was only five months old before the big move; my older sister was seven. We lived in a quiet residential area of Peru where it never snowed or got colder than 70°. To my parents, America represented new dreams and endless possibilities for their children. My mom was especially keen on having us learn English. I don't recall much of my childhood in Peru, just flashes of faces here and there but I really grew up in America. This country became my home. (A couple years later we welcomed a small shih tzu who we now call Caramel.) I define my life in two ways; before I played the violin and after I decided I would make it my career. I was a very stubborn child, Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Example Of Narrative Paper On 2/29/16 at 1130 hours I Jessika Musquiz was dispatched to 148 Suzie St regarding a petty theft. I arrived at 1150 hours and met with victim, Maria Garcia who told me the following. At 1120 hours Garcia arrived at her friend's house and parked her car in the parking lot. She went into her friend's house for 5–10 minutes. She returned to her vehicle and noticed her iPod was missing. She called the police. Garcia described the missing property as mini black iPod with white headphones attached. Valued at 60 dollars. I examined the vehicle and noticed no broken windows or no damage done to the locks. Garcia realized she may have left the doors to the vehicle unlocked. No further action taken. Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very ...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Narrative: a Memorable Event. Essay Narrative: A memorable event. I woke to my body jittering with anxiety. It was 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, and it was the day that I had been awaiting for. I was almost ready when my Dad shouted '' Ya betta get ya'self moving Kertesha, we're gonna be late!''. I paused, and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was scraped back, my polo necked fleece was suffocating and itchy, my black ribbed jodhpurs were tight around my midriff, but there was one thing missing. It was one thing which all the girls on the internet, in the movies, and in all the equestrian magazines had – A gilet. Mine was a pink Abercrombie & Fitch one, with ribbed salmon trims around the waistband and collar; it was not a real equestrian gilet, ...show more content... Although the smell of the manure was strong, over time I began to appreciate it, and so it became more of an aroma, than an odour. But this is something my Dad never seemed to get used, to let alone appreciate. The entire stable had a rather odd smell; it was a mixture of hay, cut grass, dust, manure, and oddly, a hint of leather. This was a smell which I soon became very fond of. There were six of us in the group, we were all new to Dulwhich Riding School and filled with enthusiasm. After being handed our riding hats, we were alphabetically permitted to choose a horse , and as always, I was last in the alphabet. I was left with a choice of two, one was a blue roan filly. She was a young slate coloured horse who reminded me of Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh), and was also a lot smaller than the other horses. Then I saw the attractive sorrel coloured gelding, he stood glaring at me with his head poking out of the barn gate. His mane was dark and silky, and he had a striking white birthmark on the bridge of his nose. I had an instant connection with him, and proclaimed his name as Cashmere. As I lead Cashmere towards the indoor riding arena, my heart raced. The inconsistent sound hoofs trotting along the cobbled ground were intensifying. As I stroked Cashmere's muzzle and gave him a mint polo (he's favourites), I began to mentally prepared myself to mount, and ride him. Cashmere was Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College Many parents and peers would say it is a gift that he has–– intense concentration and endurance, but he likes to call it "strength under control." The truth is, under each attempt to gain control, is a wavering risk taker who is humbled by each unlikely victory that would always bring him to tears. That person is me. I like to thinking innovatively and calculate at least seven moves deep into the most risky and daring variations. At the 2013 National Championships, first table, I was paired against my close friend and arch–rival Austin Yang, the Taiwan chess champion. Everyone knew Austin was a machine, he had destroyed his previous opponents and had barely lost any game that year. To have a winning chance, I had to play the unconventional––the ...show more content... Then in third grade I was introduced to chess, and my mind was forever rewired. I remember the first time I picked up a wooden chess piece, I was fascinated by its infinite combinations and variations. Every piece worked harmoniously together. In my first national championship in fifth grade, I distinctly recall that at one critical match there was a suffocating crowd of attention from parents, and with a few seconds on my clock, I defeated my opponent. The pistons in my mind were pumping so quickly that I was unconscious of its exact calculation process. To this day, I still do not know how I won that match. Chess was never an old man's leisure game, to me it was war. My coach would say that during each match my eyes became keen and piercing, as if I had turned into a tamed beast maneuvering sculpted pieces around a checkerboard. My friends noticed these same formidable features each time I entered the chemistry lab, delivered an electrifying debate speech, or won an intense election Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Personal Narrative : A Short Story Of Rape Thinking back I had no idea what time it was, three, maybe four in the morning. My black pajama shorts and purple Pensacola Florida tourist shirt were scattered across his white tiled bedroom floor. I closed my eyes as tight as I could trying to place myself somewhere else, anywhere else. While he was on top of me I kept telling myself "if i don't see it, it didn't happen. If I don't see it, it didn't happen." I pushed as hard as I could, but his weight far overpowered mine. I kept thinking about what I had done wrong and what possessed him want to do this to me. To make a long story short, I had been raped. Typically when the term rape spoken comments follow such as "she was probably asking for it," and "what was she wearing? Had she had anything to drink?" During my assault I did not have on provocative clothing or under any influence from drugs or alcohol, but this happens to be the case for millions of other victims. I had not been raped because of my clothing, behavior, or actions. I had been raped and sodomized because a vile man picked me to fulfill his fantasies. The person who did this to me is broken and at fault, not me, and altering my life in any way, wouldn't have prevented this from happening. If it didn't happen to me it would've happen to someone else. Women bear no responsibility for their sexual assaults, no matter their outfit choices, alcohol intake, or decision to walk alone at night to their car at night. Narrative Essay Examples Narrative Essay I step my foot into public school for the first time ever my freshman year, not knowing a single person other than my brother. Prior to my freshman year, I was homeschooled. The school feels really big at the time and it's very overwhelming. As I walk around I see people hugging, reuniting, and saying, "oh my gosh I have missed you!" All I am worrying about is what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my classroom, but I have no idea where to go. I finally make my way to my classroom, then I sit down, and the bell rings. "The day is just beginning," I think to myself. ...show more content... I am halfway through the day. After this long day it's still not over yet, I am just half way through the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give her a hug, I was so excited to see someone I already knew. I didn't have to worry where I was going to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!" We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me. They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. Personal Narrative: I Found Myself It was almost 3 years ago that I found myself in a rather strange dilemma. I was bored with blogging and all the gimmicks that you had to do in order to be good at it. This concept did not work for me. I wanted something that inspired creativity in me and in others. So I started experimenting with posting cartoons, pop culture artwork, internet memes, and videos. Not only was I having fun, I was learning to curate content. Another door that was opened was partnering with artists who were animators, cartoonists, and illustrators. My friend Tim Engstrom created a custom artwork for the header and the sidebar. It wasn't long before my clients, friends, and family were reading the blog. What I learned was that this project was more than inspiration, Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Essay on Sports Narrative Tyler Douglas Professor Thamm Eng 101–10:00 a.m. Due: Sep. 29, 2008 Essay #1 Narrative A major role in my life would definitely be sports. It is almost as if I look up to sports because I could not live without them. Sports pretty much define me as me. I love to play sports as well as watch all kinds of sports on T.V. and if I could ever go to a game and watch the players play live I would be thrilled. Basically sports define me because I am ambitious, I finish what I start, I set goals for myself, and I am a fierce competitor in which I love to win and I hate to lose. The greatest part about sports to me is living for the moment when the game is on the line and the pressure is on can you come through and make a play for your ...show more content... With the game tied 6–6 that is when I went into my own little zone and was in my moment. The crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special moment. Now, it was in this moment when I had realized that sports define me as me because we never gave up, none of us wanted to lose, we set a goal and completed it, but most important we kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody is going to remember how many games we won or who the best player on the team was that season, but I guarantee what people will remember is when we had beaten Aberdeen for the first time in school Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Example Of A Personal Narrative Research Paper I came to the United States at a very tender age, 13 years old, without a family member so I was residing with my father's friend. After I graduated from high school in 2007, at the age of 17, my guardian decided to move back to Ghana so I was here all by myself. I wanted to go to college as that had always been my dream goal. I was therefore admitted to Medgar Evers College , where I am currently attending, in fall 2007. Unfortunately, life events caused setbacks in pursing my education and finishing on the right time. As a teenager in a foreign land all alone without a family and undocumented, life was unbearable. How My Family Challenged My Identity Growing up surrounded by idealized American values and my mother's traditional Chinese– Vietnamese principles challenged my identity as a first–generation Asian American. I excelled in school. I pushed myself to join programs such as Paideia, an English course integrated with history to attain higher levels of critical thinking. Despite being academically independent, my good grades and interest in English demonstrated how well I understood the language. Cantonese, the language I used to communicate with my mom, was an entirely different story. Because my mother would work night shifts and then sleep during the day, we could barely spend any time together, creating a lack of communication. I eventually lost my fluency in Cantonese. Narrative Essay About Having A Dream Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have a dream and keep it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just that. A dream. Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case. My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there ...show more content... She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy. We began to think of how I could do both and came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit on my dreams. Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true. Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty. Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. She just let it happen. My mom Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Example Of Personal Narrative Essay Sample It was the summer of 2006 when my life took its first unexpected turn: I was seventeen years old and diagnosed with endometriosis. After I came out of what I thought would be an exploratory laparoscopy, doctors explained how they had to perform a left–oophorectomy secondary to a large endometrioma. I was devastated. However, what was most shocking to me was the fact that it was done without my consent or any prior explanation of the surgery's possible outcomes. Eventually, I recuperated well and came to terms with my diagnosis but my life was about to dramatically change. Only 10 months later, during my second year of medical training in Venezuela, the situation in my country had become too unstable and my parents made the difficult decision to immigrate. Example Of Narrative Essay Scary Story On a cold fall evening in the town of Dankfurt, Alaska with a small population of 73. There was a boy named Derek.
