Josh's character as an archetype of a sinful child.
The Crossover published in 2014 Alexander Kwame presents Josh's character as a sinful
child. In the poem we found examples of evil or sinful child. Analyzing the Josh character as a
sinful child we come across the examples that there are in the poem. Once during the game Josh
hit his twin brother and broke his brother's noise. He did it deliberately. In the secondary source
that was found from the GCC library there is example where is describe sinful child as The
Romantic child, however, often shades into its seeming opposite: the sinful child, a child “easily
swayed to do wrong, and susceptible to evil” This mean that when the child doing the thing that
susceptible to evil this representing cultural fears about the limits or failures human goodness,
selflessness, or self-mastery. By the way, if it is taken as a counterargument this should tell that it
is just a short-term solution and, as during the play they can get an injury, but it is not an injury
disease.
Take another example from the primary text. There is an episode where Josh's father gets
his second heart attack and Josh should decide to go to the game or go to the hospital he chose to
go to the game. In this plot there is the present Josh character as a selfish man. He thought only
about him.

Borrowing from another secondary source there is the point of view that the child born
sinfully. But the libertarian approach that Rousseau aims to return to nature from the repressive
education model is in fact a rejection of the Christianity belief that the child is born sinful.
Depending on the fact, a child is good by his nature. Alexander Kwame shows Josh character
how he is near to nature. This shows that Josh has his own opinion and decisions, which he made
himself and he is good with his nature.
In the poem there is a plot where Josh gives superficial reasons why he is angry. He was
angry because he wanted to win the championship. He was angry because his twin brother has a
girlfriend, and he was alone. Here he describes his loneliness and hence leads to Alexander
Kwame describing Josh's character as a sinful child.
Compared with the primary text to the secondary source there is an article which shows
that parents make their kids sinful. “The Gruenbergs implied that social acceptance depended, at
least to some degree, on ownership of the right objects. Parents should not force their children to
live with a sense of deprivation or feelings of envy, for to do so would make them unhappy,
poorly adjusted, and dogged by feelings of inferiority. If parents responded to the longings of
their offspring, and purchased particularly desirable goods, they might guarantee that their
children would fit it with their peers and experience emotional satisfaction and well-being”.
The counterargument is that parents make their kids sinful. They should allow their kids
to decide for themselves and give them what they wanted instead of what they needed.
If Josh's parents allow their boys to decide himself what they prefer to do, Josh will have another
attitude toward his brother. As JB did not like to play basketball and there would not be a
competition.

In the poem “The crossover” written by Alexander Kwame published in 2014 Josh
character is present as a sinful child archetype. In this episode the author shows Josh envy
towards his twin brother. Josh's behavior was thought out as he hit his brother deliberately to
hurt him. Josh has his opinion and decision on justice being done and instead of being with his
father he chooses to play basketball. He was good with his nature. Parents should not interfere
with the kid’s decisions. They should give everything they wanted instead of what they needed.
Sometimes the child decides what is better for him. In this case parents sow only envynance and
selfishness.
In this poem the author describes how the father wants his twin boys to become the best
basketball players. If the father did not sow in Josh and JB that they should become the best
basketball player and allow them to choose what they prefer to do, Josh's attitude toward his twin
brother will be different. There will not be competition between two brothers and Josh behavior
will not be a sinful child.
