1 of 2 ECE 212 Circuit Analysis Fall 2023 Homework 2 Total number of points: 100 Posted: Friday, Sep 29. Due date: Thursday, Oct. 12, by midnight (Toronto time). Late penalty is -10% per day for a maximum of 3 days. Beyond that point, the mark will be 0. 1. (50 pts) : Your task is to find Thevenin’s and Norton’s equivalent for the circuit shown in Fig.1 (as seen by the load resistance R L ) and to find the value of R L resulting in the maximum power transfer. a. (10 pts): Find the open circuit voltage V OC seen at the port, i.e. between the points a and b . b. (10 pts): Find the short circuit current I SC of the port. c. (15 pts): Using a test voltage source V test at the port, find the equivalent resistance R eq seen looking into the port. Verify your solution by using the results of parts a) and b). d. (5 pts): Draw Thevenin’s and Norton’s equivalent and clearly label values of all the elements of those two circuits. e. (10 pts): Find i) the value of R L that will result in the maximum power transfer and ii) the amount of power consumed by that resistor. 2 I x - + 3 A 4 Ω 2 Ω 6 Ω + _ 6 V I x a b R L + - Fig.1 2. (50 pts): For the circuit of Fig.2, your task is to find how the output voltage V out depends on the input V in in this cascaded (serial) connection of two Op. Amp. circuits. Here, you can assume that Op. Amps. are ideal and are operating in the linear mode. a. i) (15 pts) Find V out 1 / V in . ii) (5 pts) Is the output voltage V out 1 (output of the first stage) affected by the presence of the second stage? Explain your answer. iii) (10 pts) Find the input resistance as seen by V in . b. i) (10 pts) Find V out / V out1 . ii) (5 pts) Is the voltage V out affected by the load resistance R L ? Explain your answer. c. (5 pts): Find V out /V in .
