ENGR 1015U: Assignment 1 (total marks: 20) Last Date for Submission: November 20 th , 2023 before 10:00PM. Deliverables and Submission Requirements: Carefully complete all tasks for questions 1 and 2. Take clear pictures of your hand-drawn drawings and sketches. Download Assignment 1 template from Canvas “ ENGR1015U Assignment 1 Submission Template.docx ”. Rename and save this template as “Yourname_Student ID_Assignment 1. Insert clear pictures/images in the template and then save your file as a pdf and submit using Canvas Assignment 1 submission link. Please note late submissions and submissions through emails or any other means will not be accepted. Evaluation: Submissions will be graded according to how well the drawing can communicate with a machinist and your grader. A great emphasis will be placed on clarity and neatness.
Question 1: Create a hand-drawn engineering drawing for the part shown in Figure 1. (maximum marks 10) Figure 1. Isometric view of a part (all dimensions are in inches) Requirements: a. Include accurate top, front, and right orthographic views in the correct orientation. b. Dimension the drawing using inches. c. On the top right corner of the drawing or on a new sheet, accurately recreate the isometric drawing. Isometric graph paper may be helpful for this step. d. On the bottom right side of our drawing sheet, use Figure 2 as an exact template for the title block (dimensions are for reference only, the title block should not be dimensioned.) Question 2: You have been tasked with designing and producing support brackets intended for a floating wooden shelf. These brackets are meant for securely affixing specific wooden shelves to a drywall. The brackets must be capable of providing the necessary support for the specific shelf panel that is shown in Figure 3. All dimensions are in inches. (maximum marks 10) Figure 3. Floating shelf Requirements: 1. Use free hand sketching technique to draw three different and unique design concepts for brackets. To communicate your design concepts, you can draw isometric views and/or necessary orthographic views. 2. After drawing the free hand concept sketches, select one of them as your best design. 3. Create engineering drawing associated with your best design concept. The engineering drawing must include necessary orthographic views in the correct orientation. 4. The dimensions of the engineering drawing must be in inches. Material for brackets must be specified. 5. In your engineering drawing, please ensure to include a Title Block similar to as shown in Figure 4.
