Digital Tools Lesson Plan Activity Name: Emma Flynn For this activity, you will be selecting a Georgia Performance Standard to create a lesson for that includes the use of at least one digital tool that will enhance/improve your lesson. You must begin by first selecting a standard, then you will review several online tools that interest you, and last you will select at least one digital tool to include and complete your lesson plan that uses this tool Part 1 - GPS Go to the Georgia Standards website and select a specific standard that you will be creating a lesson around. (ex. S3E1c: Make observations of the local environment to construct an explanation of how water and/or wind have made changes to soil and/or rocks over time.) Georgia Performance Standard: 1.NR.5 Use concrete models, the base ten structure, and properties of operations to add and subtract within 100 Part 2 – Digital Tools List and describe at least 5 tools that could be helpful for this lesson/subject/or grade level. Refer to this module’s google slide presentation for links to different lists of digital tools. Select the best tool to help you TEACH (not test) the lesson. Although you can use testing tools at the end as your assessment (kahoot, quizlet, quizizz, etc.) you should select a different tool to use in your main activity description. Digital Tool Description Prezi I would construct a Prezi to help introduce the topic and present how it is to be done Edpuzzle I would create an Edpuzzle to present the information but in a more interactive way Family Feud I would create a family feud-type game to help them with quizzing the knowledge Online Manipulatives I would use online manipulatives to help them count out the base pairs and apply the knowledge Jepordary I could use this as another fun way to test the knowledge and practice
Which tool(s) will you be using for your lesson and why? Prezi and online manipulatives will be used in my lesson Part 3 – Lesson Plan Create your lesson using the standard you have chosen and the best digital tool that you could use to enhance/improve the lesson. Lesson Title : Adding and subtracting in base 10 Grade/Subject : 1st grade math Materials/Technology Needed : Computer for presentation Student iPads for online manipulatives Activity Description (Use bullets/numbers to show the steps for your lesson including the introduction to the conclusion. This is also where you should be using at least one digital tool within your lesson): - I would start the lesson with a Prezi presentation introducing the topic - I would then have examples in the lesson to show how to solve the problems - I would then show them the online manipulatives and how to count the manipulatives in base 10 - I would then allow the students to work together on some practice addition problems while using the manipulatives Assessment (How will you check to see what they have learned?): In order to test the student's knowledge I would do a ticket out the door using Quizizz How does the digital tool(s) you selected help to improve this lesson?
Using the online manipulatives would allow the students to count using objects instead of using their heads or fingers. It also allows them to visualize what they are learning What level of the SAMR model does your technology enhanced lesson fit best into and why? This would be Modification because you can use manipulatives that are in person instead of online
