A personal learning network (PLN) connects digital educators and serves as an innovative pathway to professional development. This virtual space is for sharing information, networking, and building digital (online) presence. In this assignment, you will identify a topic or field of interest, potential followers, and a platform for your PLN. You also will take the first steps toward building your PLN by creating a content piece appropriate to the platform. Note: If you already have a personal learning network, complete the steps using what you already have in place. Step 1. Describe In preparation for establishing a personal learning network (PLN), describe your topic or field of interest and who you want to connect with. Followers of the PLN should have expertise or an interest in the topic or field. Step 2. Select Select a platform, such as LinkedIn, YouTube, or Instagram, to begin building your own personal learning network. The platform you select should allow interactions with followers who share your interest in the topic or field. Set up an account on that platform. What attracted you to this platform or tool? Was this a new tool for you or one you had used previously? If you have used it previously, explain how. Step 3. Create Create a content piece for your selected platform. For example, you might create a 1-page post for the blog you developed or a video for your YouTube channel. Step 4. Inform Explain in one paragraph how you will let others know your PLN is operational. Step 5. Reflection Develop a 1- to 2-page reflection on the process of establishing a personal learning network (PLN). What are the potential benefits? What challenges did you face? Step 6. Assemble Assemble the information from Steps 1-4 in a single APA-formatted Word document with a title and reference page.
