Project 1 Process Assignment 5% 1. Title of the source for the Critique Essay Food insecurity in Canada is the worst it’s ever been. 2. Argument Breakdown Break down the argument of the source. Issue: Shocking increase in household food insecurity in Canada, pointing out its negative impact on the health and healthcare system. Reasons and Evidence: -Over the last year, food insecurity forced many Canadians to reduce or forgo meals. -More people using the healthcare system means more medical expenses and an unneeded stress on our public system. -Despite research on food insecurity, governments have not been able to permanently alter their income policies. 3. Reverse outline Para 1: As per the latest estimates, 17.8% of households do not have adequate or secure access to food. Para 2-5: Due to lack of income, people living in Canada are not able to afford good meals and some had to cut or skip meals for several months. Para 6-8: People are unable to afford the food, due to which they are facing health implications with different diseases. Para 9-10: The households' residents need greater medical attention, and some of them may need hospital stays as well as outpatient care.

Para 11-14: According to reports, if low-income individuals acquire more money from various sources, such as being qualified for state pension programs, Old Age Security, and Guaranteed Income Supplements, their level of food security will decline. Para 15-16: Social assistance clients are nearly guaranteed food insecurity, thus provinces should consider increasing and indexing benefit amounts to ensure they have enough for necessities. Para 17-18: To provide people with a living standard, provinces must increase the number of jobs available at high incomes. Para 19-20: Canada's child benefits system needs to be handled so that low- income individuals receive resources efficiently, as having children in the home increases the likelihood of food poverty. Para 21-22: More exclusive income policies should be implemented by the government to minimize food insecurity. Para 23-25: Millions of Canadians' health is being compromised by food insecurity, which the government is not taking seriously. 4.
