Gizmodo: AI 1 With the ongoing problems occurring in today’s world, artificial intelligence is one of them. AI is the intelligence of software and machines as opposed to the intelligence of humans. This can be seen in the newly discovered ChatGPT, a language model-based chatbot developed by OpenAI that launched back in 2022, which enables users to do anything from questions about certain topics to asking it to write an essay for them. This has caused issues in our current society, both politically and socially. The 10 posts that I have chosen and analyzed all have to do with AI. Most of the posts are about AI and politics and some have to deal with pop culture and AI. Each blog post explains a certain topic and how AI is affecting it. With one of Mack DeGeurin’s postsI have chosen, there is talk about how AI is being used to ban books from school libraries. This can relate to the current book bans that are happening in America. The majority of the blogs I have chosen are negative effects of AI. One of the blogs had to do with AI in the military, which surprised me because I had no idea that could happen. The fact that AI can now be used in the military is a scary thing to think about. One that can be seen on the positive side is Kevin Hurler’s post about Spotify and its AI-powered DJ as well as the new ways to automatically generate playlists with a user prompt. Each blog post I chose adequately covered the topic of AI. When reading through each one, I was able to understand how AI is taking over a lot of the things that we enjoy, and bigger things like the military. I have always found AI interesting, and reading these I have gained more knowledge of the subject. It is important to keep this conversation going, as AI is advancing and interfering with our daily lives. I thought that the authors did a great job with conducting their research and explaining what was happening with AI.
Gizmodo: AI 2 All of the authors of these blog posts are reporters. With them writing these posts, they reach different audiences. These are intended for anyone, it doesn’t just apply to one specific group. With AI, this can affect anyone such as students with ChatGPT and celebrities — like Tom Hanks and the deep fake that is circulating around. The only suggestion that I have for improving the blog posts overall would be more in depth. I would have loved to have read more on each of the different reasons because I was interested in all of the different blog post topics.
