2 E-R Diagram Paper Week 4 Assignment By me creating a tool that would assist analyst in interviewing users while sufficiently and effectively creating and editing an ER diagram. Would help the analyst through the interviewing process. Here’s exactly how I would build user-friendly software. This tool would be able to gather the requirements from the users and translate them into a visual diagram using an E-R Diagram. An Entity relationship diagram better known as an E-R Diagram is a flow chart that shows entities, objects, concepts, and people in a system and how they interact with one another. It is very important to use E-R Diagram to show documentation of how the software works. As an analyst, it is important to know exactly what tools and features you would add when creating new software. My team and I have chosen to add a user interview module as a tool feature. This tool would provide a module designed to help the interviewer with conducting interviews. It would also have a built-in framework for capturing exactly what the requirements are of the users. This will be a game changer and allow the analyst the ability to ask the right questions to the users and record the user's replies effortlessly. The interviewing module would also have a mandatory questionnaire to guide the interviewer through the interviewing processes swiftly, correctly, effectively, and sufficiently leaving the interviewer with the right candidates for the position the company is hiring for. Once that is established my team and I would then begin the process of adding a collaboration feature that will be able to support the collaboration that has taken place amongst the multiple analysts and stakeholders. By doing this it would allow creating the ability to visually see collaborations in real- time on the E-R diagram. Users would then can work on a diagram at the same time. They would be able

3 to make the changes that need to be made on the diagram and once the changes are made everyone using the software would be able to see the changes. This will allow the users to then be able to decide on what change works best for the company. This tool is very similar to brainstorming. This tool would also allow the users to have version control. Version control will give the users the ability to track all the changes they made. Also, I would consider adding a data dictionary integration. By adding this tool, as a feature, it would be able to integrate all the data with a dictionary and or metadata repository. This would give the users the ability to define and manage the entity's attributes, data type, and other important information that is relevant. This tool would ensure consistency across multiple diagrams when updates and changes occur. The final tool that my team and I would add is an export and documentation tool. This tool would be able to provide the option to export the E-R Diagram in different formats like PDF and Doc. just to name a few. To further give you an example I have obtained a copy of an invoice used in a recent transaction between a company and a customer for a product that was sold to the customer. This is how that would look as an E-R Diagram. This is the process a customer must go through when ordering online.
