Project Plan- Executive Summary Description of Project The Kansas City Bike-sharing movement is becoming an innovative urban mobility method, offering a convenient and environment-friendly way to get around town. Bike-sharing systems consist of a fleet of bicycles within a network of stations throughout the city (Campbell, 2012). Bicycles are available on-demand, providing fast and easy access for short, transit-linked, and tourist trips. Cities worldwide are investing in bike-sharing as a relatively inexpensive and quick implementation of urban transportation options. For example, Kansas City, Missouri, adopted infrastructure changes to promote public transportation. These changes included building bicycle lanes on public streets, promoting a healthier lifestyle, and improving air quality by using bicycles as a means of transport (Lorenzo, 2017). Kansas City officials have realized that many people need to own bicycles; one idea to fill this void is a bike-sharing service like Lime or Bird Scooters. Goals for Project KC-Bikes is a web and mobile app-based solution that can provide a bicycle-sharing facility and local traffic systems. We will develop a system to facilitate reliable and cheaper traveling services. The information system supporting the ride-sharing Kiosk is at the core of intelligent bike-sharing systems. From an operational perspective, the system will support functions such as user account management (i.e., registrations, verification of account balance, calculating charges, and rental availability). In addition, the information system will send users prompt messages when bikes are rented and returned, tracking bicycles for suspended rentals and preparing statistical analysis for demand forecasting (Rogers). The designs will communicate and exchange data between the central management system, which will be cloud-based but have dispersed brick-and-mortar locations for emergency and server overload considerations. To implement this project, we will be using the Waterfall methodology. As mentioned above, the Kiosk will connect to Google Fiber Wireless Broadband GMS Network and be hardwired if wireless broadband goes down. The technology employed, both hardware and software, will have to be kept up to date and maintained, as will the data stored in the database.
Project Plan- Executive Summary Information technology forms a crucial path for the bike-sharing system in connecting different individual stations, users, and control centers using various data transmission mechanisms and software (PBSC et al., 2022). It includes deciding how the users register and pay for the system, how all the bikes are checked in and checked out from the docking spaces, and how this information is transmitted internally for management purposes and externally for the general users. The software is required to support the front end for the user's side regarding the system, including registering new users, making payments and subscriptions for membership, and customer data management. This front end of the website is based on a web- based interface where users can perform different types of tasks to use the services provided by the company in terms of bike-sharing business (Berto, 2015). As mentioned above, the ride-sharing app test market will be Kansas City to take advantage of the free broadband service provided by Google Fiber. This process is fluid but will serve as the operational baseline. The recommended system will comprise 28 stations with 250 bikes, including the downtown, Power and Light District, Union Station, and the City Market, and 14 additional stations in the metro area. The Length of the project This project will span one year following the Waterfall methodology, which will be broken down into five phases. Project Plan- Executive Summary Phase 1: The business plan presents information on the proposed system size phasing and outlines project requirements, key stakeholders, project deliverables, project constraints, risks, and deliverable testing requirements for the program. Phase 2: Creation and testing of the portal type. Identify RICE items and finalize the design blueprint.
