LEARNING PROFILE TEMPLATE My top three intelligences are self, spatial, and nature. My biggest strength is self which means I like to spend time alone, work on tasks by myself, and think things through by myself. As a teacher I will encourage students to become independent learners while also being good collaborators with their peers. I think that it is very important for students and people to have a good sense of self and be responsible for themselves. I want my students to ponder their thoughts on their own and find ways to problem solve by themselves, while also being able to participate in group discussion. I feel that intentionally setting aside time to reflect on ideas, brainstorm, journal, and read information alone is a valuable skill that students should have. I want my students to develop a good sense of self and still foster relationships with their classmates in the classroom. My second biggest strength is spatial. I tend to retain and remember information visually through posters, charts, graphs, shapes, and diagrams. A good visual representation of a concept is a good way for students to see an idea explained in a tangible format. As a teacher, I want to prioritize catering to my students learning preferences and visual a common learning preference, so I will be utilizing visuals regularly in the classroom. VARK Questionnaire: Click here to begin. Take a screenshot of the results and insert the image in the cell below. VARK Reflection: In the cell below, insert a 150-word paragraph reflecting on the implications of the results for you as a teacher and for your classroom instruction. My learning preference is multimodal according to VARK. This means that I learn best with a variety of formats, visuals, layouts, notes, handouts, practical exercises, and things that are real. As a teacher in my classroom, I feel like my learning preference being multimodal will be very beneficial because I learn in a variety of ways, and it is important to use differentiated instruction and resources. Incorporating resources that cater to students different learning preferences is essential for students to feel comfortable, successful, and seen. I think that because I have a multimodal learning preference, it will come natural to me to teach in many ways that students can learn from. Also, all students will be prone to learning according to their preference in my classroom because I understand and believe it is important to use multimodal resources that accommodate for everyone. According to my learning preference being multimodal, teaching methods I plan to use will include flexible layout and space, listening and discussing activities, talking and questioning, visuals like graphs and maps, and creating practical, real experiences.
