Changes to Security and Safety Report Managing our private security organization, we must take into consideration different factors that play a role in the security and safety of our organization, understanding that we can always be faced with challenges and changing threats and risks. We have highlighted three of the national concerns that we will make operational changes to for the safety and security of the organization- The mental health crisis facing law enforcement, National racial injustice, bias, and diversity concerns of 2020, and Global warming and related environmental concerns for criminal justice and private security. Operational Changes Training and Support for Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement The crisis with mental health in law enforcement needs improved training and support for law enforcement officers to provide an understanding and the best way to appropriately respond to individuals suffering from mental health issues. By training our officers in de-escalation techniques, first aid for mental health, and collaborative partnerships with mental health professionals for a more efficient and effective response. (DEI) Implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the National racial Injustice, bias, and Diversity Concerns of 2020 This concern calls for a concerted effort to implement a comprehensive DEI initiative in the organization, including bias training, community engagement, and diversity within the organization. By incorporating a culture that represents values and respects diversity and practicing fair and unbiased practices.
Global Warming and Related Environmental Concerns for Criminal Justice and Private security Research has shown that rising temperatures due to global warming cause crime rates to increase, particularly true for violent and property crimes. Mental Health Mental health crisis facing law enforcement is a major issue between officers and individuals suffering from mental health-related issues. These events often escalate into situations requiring the use of force, injuries, or even death. The benefit of offering training and support to law enforcement would create a safer, non-confrontational event, and it will ensure that the individual in the crisis gets the appropriate care needed. The community would have more trust in law enforcement and security organizations, a reduction in events, and a safer environment for the community. This urges for enhanced training and support for law enforcement and private security firms. Officers in both public and private sectors encounter individuals in a crisis but studies show that a significant amount of police calls involve those individuals who suffer from mental health issues. (Steadman, H.J., et. Al., 2000). Law enforcement must train and offer support along with partnership from trained professionals to respond to the mental health crisis, having a better understanding of the different conditions will help to create a more efficient and effective response. Training provides de-escalation techniques to defuse events without force, mental health first aid provides officers the knowledge and skills to recognize signs of mental distress, allows for a non-threatening approach, and provides direct support from mental health professionals. The collaboration with professionals and crisis intervention teams alongside the officers can

make for a more informed decision. This way we can equip our officers with techniques to reduce force and injuries, enhance community trust between law enforcement and individuals with mental health concerns. Individuals suffering from mental health crisis can receive the appropriate care avoid incarceration, and the skills and knowledge to perform a compassionate and secure environment. National Racial Injustice, Bias, and Diversity Concerns of 2020 Our country had many national racial injustice concerns in 2020 which led to widespread protests racial injustice and a demand for equality, directly focusing on systemic related racial bias and inequality. Raising the response for law enforcement and private security organizations to address the concern with (DEI) initiatives. Institution's concerns around racial injustice and bias concerns can lead to unfair practices, discriminatory actions, and a lack of trust. Community morale will be strengthened, as trust, and bias-related conflicts. Providing the training to our workforce will enhance the environment to a diverse solution-driven organization leading us to more efficient and effective security practices. Other initiatives such as community engagement programs for law enforcement and security organizations. Actively recruiting a diverse workforce such as underrepresented groups like racial minorities, women, and LGBTQ+. By creating a cultivating inclusive organization by promoting a work environment for all employees feel valued, respected, and equal for all growth and advancement opportunities. DEI benefits by creating a more inclusive workplace and helps to boost morale. Working with law enforcement and private security agencies because of the biased training and awareness programs, and employees working in a diverse workforce can lead to more effective perspectives, ideas to solve problems, and strategies and practices in law
enforcement and security. By organizations addressing racial injustice and biases, they become more skilled in the service to protect and serve, by gaining the trust of the community leads to an effective collaboration in prevention and crime-solving technology. Global Warming and Related Environmental Concerns for Criminal Justice and Private Security Global warming and related environmental concerns the criminal justice system is facing have to do with several factors beyond the control of the public. These environmental factors create an environment for government fraud, property crime, violent crime, poverty, social tensions, and environmental degradation. Studies show climate change is a security risk because it degrades living conditions, security, and fragile and limited resources making for vulnerable communities that are at risk to mitigation. Climate change also threatens our national security with increased natural disasters, refugee flows, and conflicts over resources. It also affects critical infrastructure, high temperatures, buckle railways, damage roads, and power system strains. Due to global warming and environmental concerns changes for criminal justice and private security agencies must adapt and prepare to handle these changes effectively, meaning law enforcement and private security agencies may need to increase resources to maintain order and safety. The climate study also states the effect on our prison and jail systems, as well as the concerns about where inmates will be detained and the conditions. Lastly, Global warming impacts how criminal law is practiced and applied in a court of law (Levenson, 2021). Laws confronting global warming and climate change need to have added resources, policies, and
programs in place to confront the concerns as they arise in a global discussion, being prepared for changes would help to reduce fraud and future global warming crime rates of any type. Conclusion These operational changes will help to implement DEI for law enforcement and private security agencies. Not only do they address racial injustice and bias, but they also create prevention programs to decrease crime due to global warming and climate change to promote a more inclusive and equitable environment. The community will benefit from improved morale, and trust, reduced bias-related conflicts, access to diversity, and community relations. These changes will also protect ourselves and the public with committed trained professionals to address mental health, fair and justice communities, and our global family.
