Students are responsible for knowing and following the syllabus and are also responsible for the material that is covered in the UCPI. Students will examine standard and emerging networks and protocols for an understanding of practical network applications. Topics include data link, network, and transport protocols. INT 5020 Syllabus Page 2 of 6 Wireless Networking Cloud Computing and Remote Access Network Risk Management Unified Communications and Network Performance Management Network Segmentation and Virtualization Wide Area Networks Industrial and Enterprise Networking Instructional Methods: All course lectures, notes, quizzes, and other instructions are delivered via the learning management system, Canvas and Cengage. Although, this is primarily an asynchronous course, students are required to participate frequently in web-based discussions, submit assignments on time on a weekly basis, complete quizzes, upload documents, and interact with course materials on a regular basis. Communication and collaboration will be completed mainly through email, Canvas messages, the online chat tool, and discussion forums. Students need to remain self-motivated and on task throughout the term to be successful. Evaluation and Grading Policy: Class Evaluation: Discussion Forum 20% (Equally Weighted) Quiz 20% (Equally Weighted) LAB 50% (Equally weighted) Final Exam 10% Grading System: Grade Range A 90 - 100 D 69 - 60 B 80 - 89 F Below 60 C 70 - 79 Attendance and Participation: Although, this is primarily an asynchronous course, students are required to participate frequently in web-based discussions, submit assignments on time on a weekly basis, complete quizzes, upload documents, and interact with course materials on a regular basis. Students need to remain self-motivated and on task throughout the term to be successful. Your continued participation in your courses is essential to your success and our responsibilities as an institution. Academic participation is checked in weeks 4, 7 and 9 of each course. If it is determined a student is no longer academically participating at the regular check points, the student will be officially withdrawn by the college. Participation in a course is defined as participating in any graded academic activity online in Canvas (e.g. posting to a discussion, submitting an assignment, taking a quiz etc.). Please ensure that you have participated in a graded academic activity during these weeks to remain active and enrolled in

Attendance Information for First Week and Following Weeks : During the first week of class, students must log into Canvas and must participate in one introductory discussion forum by the end of the 3 rd day of the first week. Students who do not complete this assignment will be marked absent during the first week of class. Throughout the quarter, attendance will be monitored weekly through homework submission and participation in the discussion forums.

INT 5020 Syllabus Page 4 of 6 Policy for Late and Missing Work: The South College School of Business & Technology expects that all course assignments be submitted on or before the specified due date and time. Any assignment submitted late will be subject to a grading penalty. The penalty for late assignments will be at the discretion of the instructor. Academic Support: To comply with the Rehabilitation act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities act, South College provides Student Services to ensure that the learning environment is accessible to all our students by providing appropriate accommodations for students with unique needs. Documentation of specific needs and disabilities will be required. Course Withdrawal: Students who withdraw from a course after the add/drop deadline and before the end of week 7 for 10 and 11-week courses, week 8 for 12-week courses, and week 3 for 5-week courses will receive a W (withdrawal) grade. Students who withdraw after these dates will receive the grade they earn after factoring in the total points for the course. While a W grade does not count in the GPA calculation, it does count as an attempt in the satisfactory academic progress calculation. To withdraw you must notify your student success coach, registrar, or department chair/dean. Using Canvas The Classroom This class is an online class; therefore, Canvas and Cengage will be used extensively. Weekly assignments, including discussion questions, will be posted on the Canvas site. Practice quizzes as review for the exams will also be posted in Canvas. The online chat, interactive tutorials, and discussions within the Canvas forum will be used. Canvas will be utilized for assignment submissions. For successful completion of the course, Canvas should be checked at least twice a week.
