Information Literacy Michael Bloomingburg September 17, 2023 1. What is something you are curious about? What
is something you see out in the world that you
want to know more about? Perhaps think of health,
business, or socio-cultural issues. The cause of living ( inflation) the reason I’m interested in this topic is because this is something everyone is struggling with and trying to figure out what is going on. The life we are living today we can not enjoy life we are so worried about how we are going to survive. Which brings me to unemployment rates, why its hard to find a job even with a college degree.
2.Did the Mind Map help you narrow your topic?
Describe your experience with the Mind Map
feature and indicate your narrowed topic:
By providing me with the knowledge I required regarding unemployment rates, it assisted me in narrowing my topic, and the mind
map's visual chart encouraged my brainstorming.
Write at least three research questions related to your topic and circle or somehow indicate the one you are most interested in answering:
1.
Why does the government compile unemployment statistics?
2.
Why is it that everything in the world is getting expensive but its hard to find a decent paying job?
3.
Why is it that even with a college degree it is still difficult to find a job?
Create a thesis statement for your research project. Be sure it meets the characteristics of a “strong”
thesis statement as described in the reading for this unit.
Unemployment is often defined as the condition in which people who are
able and eager to work are unable to obtain any type of wage-earning employment. Numerous detrimental repercussions of unemployment on
society's status include an increase in crime, divorce, and homelessness. Many people believe that having a degree makes it simple to find a job and a higher position, but this is untrue; it depends on other factors. Many people said that the key to success in life is education. As a result, finding employment has grown increasingly difficult for recent college graduates.
PART 2
Below are four examples that display usage of this content. For each one, please determine whether or not plagiarism is present. If you feel a passage is plagiarized, explain why. If you feel it was not plagiarized, explain what necessary details are present that show correct usage.
a. Books and articles had textual permanency and recognizable authors before computers. This made it simpler than it is now for readers to check the veracity of sources. Because this is an interpretation of a passage in the author's own words, it is not plagiarism. The job market has grown increasingly difficult for young college graduates. B. The Internet, according to Spiranec and Mihaela (2010), has "brought an end to the stability of information context" (p. 147). This is not plagiarism since the writer properly cited the portion from which the statement was taken in the text, indicating where the information originated c. As soon as material started to be published on the Internet, the concept of information literacy started to drastically shift (Spiranec & Mihaela, 2010). Because the content is correctly paraphrased and has an in-text citation, this is not plagiarism.
d. What it means to be an information literate individual or community is currently evolving as a result of Web 2.0. This is plagiarism since the material was copied verbatim without the author's permission.
