AI tools are a breach of academic honesty because they are not written by a real person. When using AI tools, students can jeopardize their individual growth and academic integrity. It leads to lack of knowledge and may even result in plagiarism. AI tools also prevent students from engaging with their course materials. Overall, it may seem like an easy way to get out of doing class work but one doesn’t learn and once in the workforce it will be hard to integrate into their fields. If a student is caught by AI detecting tools such as Turnitin, they can possibly lose their academic standing and receive a failing grade.
Explain ways students can avoid academic dishonesty. (100 words)
Academic dishonesty can have detrimental effects on a student's prospects for success in both their academic program and career. You can prevent academic fraud by using the following five strategies. First and foremost, if we use someone else's words or ideas in our writing, we must always give credit to the original author. Students need to familiarise themselves with the policies controlling academic integrity at their institution. It's also important to follow the guidelines and provide credit where credit is due

Introduction Could you have ever imagined that the health system of a wealthy country like Canada would be
this difficult for its citizens? The Canadian health system is currently facing challenges due to a
shortage of doctors, extremely long wait times, and the mistreatment of some patients. In 2022,
Leah Sarah Peer published an article on this issue titled,
“Medical students learn to build a
patient's trust. But how often does that really happen?”. This piece highlights the experience of
Peer and her sister’s emergency room visit in Montreal which turned out to be a negative
experience. Although the article was beautifully written, there are a lot of flaws because it is
biased and lacks clear evidence.
Summary
The article is written by a women named Leah Sarah Peer who shares the experience her and her sister faced in a Montreal emergency room. She states that they were in the emergency department for over half a day, during which her sister was reportedly disregarded, treated unfairly by the attending physician, and told to go home without compassion. Peer claims that the health care system failed them and was distraught by the level of care provided. She chose to write an article to share her experience with other Canadians and hold the health care system accountable. Response Segment 1
The author has a biased opinion towards the hospital visit because the patient is her sister. She is alert of all her sisters' emotions, and it seems as though she had already diagnosed her prior to their visit to the emergency room. It is natural for Peer to take her sisters side as they are family which also makes it hard for her to remain neutral. Peer states, “he placed his fingers on the area and pressed down to assess for pus or an infection. I saw her wince with pain — but I also saw she did not trust the doctor enough to say anything” (Peer 2022, para.3). She claims to see that her sister did not trust the doctor, but how is that something that you can see without internally knowing anything? She also states, “when I tried to open up conversation, to articulate possibilities and to understand the doctor's style of thinking and reasoning, I was ignored” (Peer 2022, para.7). Peer questioned the doctor's credibility and did not let her sister ask the questions. In addition to all of this, she claims that her sister now has trauma when visiting the doctor due to
the negative experience she experienced. Her exact words were, “I see it in the fear my sister now has when she visits the hospital” (Peer, 2022, para.13). As a family member, Peer understandably could not remain neutral in the article. She was overwhelmed by her sister’s pain and could not see what was going on around her in the hospital other than her sister's discomfort.

The author fails to provide evidence to support the reason for the hospital visit and speaks of the doctor negatively. She states, “my sister was sent home and told to come back to the emergency room if her symptoms changed” (Peer, 2022, para.7). Peer did not share evidence of what the doctor said regarding his findings. She also claims that her sister was dismissed without proper care stating “the system we both had faith in failed my sister. What she felt was a serious issue was dismissed as nothing” (Peer 2022, para.8). Peer keeps repeating that her sister's issue was serious but fails to share any evidence to identify that issue. She also uses words such as disinterested and prejudiced to paint the doctor in a negative light. Peer states, “no excuse justifies inadequate care nor the dismissal, misdiagnoses and potentially life-threatening consequences that can come as a result of disinterested, prejudiced physicians” (Peer, 2022, para.15). Throughout the article, she does not provide any evidence to prove that her sister had a life-threatening issue, or even any problem at all. All she does is make empty claims without any
evidence. Conclusion
Although beautifully written, Leah Sarah Peer’s article is flawed and ineffective because it has biased opinions and lacks evidence. Peer wrote a great informative article about her and her sisters experience in a Montreal ER. She shared some great ideas about how to improve the healthcare system. However, she has a biased opinion towards the hospital visit because the patient is her sister, and she already has conclusions about her feelings and symptoms. Peer also fails to provide evidence to support the reason for the hospital visit and speaks of the doctor negatively. She frequently mentions that her sister had a serious issue but failed to provide evidence to back up her assumptions but instead painted the doctor in a negative light.
