Kristi Fabregas COM-277 Journal 2 When looking at the PRSA Member Code of Ethics and IABC Code of the Ethics for Professional Communicators the offer detailed information’s explaining how professional use these ethics to make decisions. They use these guidelines when making decisions that involve competition among professional, while looking at truthful information and conflicts. The IABC created the code as a guide to help make responsible, ethical, and legal choices in all the communicators. The principle, purpose and outcome are like those of the PRSA. When looking at the conflict of interest it is best describes as being involved in interest where one could corrupt your decision making of something else. One good example is if you have a client or a competitor and fail to inform the client that he or she is being represented by the competitor the PRSA code would recommend avoiding these conflicts of interest to build trust of the clients and the public. To be able to follow this code and guidelines one must act in the best interest of his or her client or employer even that means you will be sacrificing your own personal interest. You want to make sure that PR you are using good judgement and decision- making skills to avoid circumstances that could hurt all involved. The PRSA Code of Ethics do share a core belief relating to competition among professionals. They want to promote a fair competition that preserves the ethical business. PRSA practice free and open communication while making sure to not share untruthful information about another company of competitor to where they would profit from this rumor.
One event that was a PR disaster of 2022 I would have to say would involve Harry and Meghan, and when they decided to step sway from the Royal duties while the public felt was a bold move and could understand why they wanted privacy. Since the announcement all they’ve done is attempt to tarnish the family name, while brining down and institutions and cash in on the family secrets. Everything they say is contradictory to what they said they wanted in the beginning. While trying to do goof it comes off in a poor taste and doesn’t get the results they are looking for.
