Below is the research topic for the term paper: Corruption, excessive use of force, and other serious misconduct by police officers are usually publicized by the media. Many students are astonished how police departments can hire these officers even though each and every police applicants are vetted through a rigorous background check. Write a six (6) page argumentative research paper (excluding cover and reference page) on what makes an “ethical” police officer. Is it impossible to be a good police officer without being an “ethical” one? Many scholars argue certain attributes (e.g. higher education, compassion, etc.) are significant indicators of an “ethical” police officer. Cite as least three scholarly articles found in Criminal Justice databases while researching your term paper. The term paper should follow the below format: Introduction - Introduce the topic Literature Review - Present relevant literature Discussion - Must be factually based from your literature review Conclusion - What you have concluded based on the facts you have reviewed. References An "ethical" police officer is one who upholds the law and maintains high moral standards while performing their duties. They are honest, fair, and respectful to all individuals, regardless of their race, gender, or social status. They prioritize the safety and well-being of the community they serve and strive to build trust and positive relationships with the people they interact with. While it is possible to be a good police officer without being an "ethical" one, being ethical is a crucial aspect of being a good police officer. Police officers have a significant amount of power and authority, and it is essential that they use this power responsibly and with integrity. Ethical police officers are more likely to make sound decisions, act in the best interest of the community, and maintain public trust.
