• All Individuals Can Learn
-
I wired in a high-poverty area where most students had jobs outside of school to help
put food on the table for their families. I had many students who missed days upon
days- missing so much of the lesson. As I continued to teach the lesson, and these
students fell behind or simply did not understand - I knew that ALL individuals can
learn, no matter the circumstance. I worked with them in small group- often offering
most days for them to come after school to catch up on work. As the students caught
up on work, and noticed that they started to understand the material - the success
began. I continued to work with students, differentiate, and scaffold the material.

Empathy
-
Empathy is one of my greatest strengths, and I believe it is one of my main reasons
for success in education. I have been a long-term sub for the past two years. I have
accepted jobs where the teacher has left midsemester - usually due to a challenging
class. Firstly, I walk into the classroom with empathy as my number one factor to
success. The students usually have a hard time at home or school. I use empathy to
connect with students and to meet them where they are. When I empathize with
students, they will know that I care. If the students do not know that I care, then the
learning will not take place. I use empathy when it comes to student behavior,
missing or late assignments, and many other reasons. When I empathize with my
students I see success.

Growth Mindset
-
I will improve my proficiency in the growth mindset by always searching, listening,
and seeking out where I can grow as a teacher, student, and more. I will take my
future boss's critiques with a growth mindset to ensure that I am growing as an
educator and as a student.
Intellectual Courage
-
The step that I will take to improve proficiency is that I will make sure that I am
reflecting, and taking the time to review what feedback my instructors and mentors
are providing me. I will use that to help myself while I am at school and to ensure my
success. I will use the feedback in my future assignments and when I am in the
workforce and continue to push myself intellectually.

Growth Mindset
-
When I search for, listen to, and seek out advice from my mentors and leaders, I will
be the best teacher that I can possibly be. I will develop as a Next-Gen candidate
because I will be seeking ways to grow my mindset as an educator, student, and
human being. As a Next-Gen candidate, with a growth mindset, I will be able to
embrace challenges, endure any adversity, and meet my goals.
Intellectual Courage
-
As a student and educator, it is important to grow with intellectual courage for the
sake of my future students. As I develop as a Next-Gen candidate, I will be able to
trust from my students, as well as from my colleagues because I will treat them all
with respect and listen to them.

Communication
-
I would apply each of these to collaborate with families, caregivers, or the larger
community by communicating effectively and professionally with each of them. I
would use impactful nonverbal and verbal communication to ensure that the families,
caregivers, and larger communities fully understand my message. I plan to send
weekly newsletters to that will create communication where anyone can ask
questions about what we are learning.
Belonging
-
I would use belonging with families, caregivers, and larger communities by making
sure that they are heard, seen, and valued. I would ensure that they feel comfortable
coming to me, and I will create an environment where students, families, and other
people feel like the belong when it comes to working with me. I will do events where
families can join to gather together- whether it’s carving a pumpkin night or a
Valentine’s day party - but a get-together that will foster the feeling of belonging.
2. Explain how application of
each
of the chosen SOE Professional Dispositions and Ethics
facilitates learner growth.
Communication
-
Communication will facilitate the learner's growth because communication may be
the most important aspect of teaching. A teacher must communicate clearly and
effectively for learning to take place. As a teacher, communication with the student,
family, and other educators will help the student overall be successful and facilitate
the learner’s growth.
Belonging
-
By creating and exhibiting belonging, a student will feel seen and valued. If a student
feels like they matter to the teacher, there will be more effort put into learning. By
